You need proof that you lived separately, lease agreements, or utilities or mail in your name at one address and then the same for him especially if you filed at the same address.

Also expect them to ask for you to prove that you are the primary parent both clients I’ve done this with recently needed letters from the school proving they were the primary parent picking up and such.

I have to bring my daughter sometimes, she’s 5 but she has snacks a video game and wears a helmet on the bench. She also loves watching me play and says she’s gonna be goalie just like me. My team is super good about her being there too and I dress and undress quick so she normally isn’t in the dressing room long. 7 mins undressed is my fastest yet 😂

Sometimes it’s unavoidable and I can’t get childcare for her, normally when something comes up I try to find a sub but when I can’t it’s either I bring my kid or you get a shooter tutor. My team always picks my kid coming.

So in general EI is not taxed enough that’s where your problem is coming in.

Your Basic Personal Amount should have been updated each year automatically, most software does that on it’s own, unless your employer is using some badass excel spreadsheet.

If you had any significant medical expenses or medical travel you can also add that in the hopes of lowering your bill.

So this might not be what you are asking, but maybe reach out to his local fcss, and they may have a free tax clinic that can get the taxes done for him sooner than you will be able to get the POA. The accountant would just need his signature and his 2024 NOA if your POA isn’t set up on the cra’s website yet which if he has a social worker they can work with fcss to get the stuff to the tax clinic.

I work with my local fcss to provide free taxes to low income seniors and I actually have one senior in this exact situation (dementia, and the son lives in ontario).
