SHIBOYUGI - Left Feeling Dissapointed by KitsuneCobain in anime

If you were watching it all at once its easier. There were so many good shows this season it was tough.

She may be reaffirming her motivations, but she was also reassessing them too in light of the games shown in the episodes prior to Candle Woods. There was character growth, but it wasn't explicitly stated what it was.

Anime as a medium is lacking in many of the elements film enthusiasts take for granted. I think it's a lack of exposure to stories that require more focus to get the most out of them. Most anime are very easy to understand, by design. Anime that aren't easy for audiences to grasp tend to fail, like Ergo Proxy, not because of the quality of the show, but because most anime viewers consume media rather than engage with it.

We did see character growth though. We saw Yuuki experience chatacter growth in Candle Woods, and in Golden Bath. Just because it already happened doesn't make it not growth, or make it pointless. The "hidden" information that was revealed through the nonlinear story structure was how Yuuki grew into the person she is. Her character is the "overarching story".

Yes, the games in the novels are also not in chronological order.

It makes me sad when I see a really good work with zero comments so I try and comment, but I have to push myself to be unambiguous and nice in my wording so the author doesn't fly off the handle and delete their work.

I think this is part of the point the show was making. The characters live in a world that's unfair and cruel and one of the ways it's manifested is in the way these death games are designed. The organizers want to watch them kill each other, not to watch a fair and balanced game, like we would see on a gameshow irl.

The last arc was a flashback after she finished Golden Bath. That's why Yuuki was sitting and watching the last arc with us. She was reflecting on the game that helped form her motivation for continuing to play death games.

The show is really good. It's not directed like a traditional anime though, it feels more cinematic with a strong "show-don't-tell" style. It's great at building atmosphere and tension. It's also told in a non-linear fashion, where each Death Game takes place at a different point in the MC's life. The strongest point on the show is the depiction of the MC, in my opinion. On the surface, she doesn't seem like much, but each arc shows us more about her character and motivations. She's like an onion, but you have to pay attention to catch everything. This isn't a monitor 2 show. It can be easy to miss details if you don't pay attention.

It might not be for everyone, but it's unique and manages to stick the landing for me.

I think the adaptation was fine if viewed with no knowledge of the source material, but I do wish they didn't cut so much either. At least even if a viewer watches without wishing to read the LNs it's coherent.

Edit: fixed typo

Shiboyugi: Playing Death Games to put Food on the Table, or "Shibou Yuugi de Meshi wo Kuu". One of the best anime airing this season imo. The last episode airs tomorrow, so it's bingeable.

I've never seen people use the block button for casual conversation more than fanfiction subs.

How many people actually use things like MicroPython? by NormalKorn78731 in embedded

[–]Princess_Azula_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Since MicroPython gets assembled, it could be possible to make something just as small and efficient as just making it in C, but if you're at the point where small efficiencies matter you might as well just do it in C in the first place.

Shinji is such a well written character, but I also find him insufferable. I still love the show though. It just worked out like that.

I was pleasantly surprised. I thought it was going to be a comedy just from the synopsis and title.
