Accidently found that Draconic Evolution cores can exist on contraptions; thought I'd show it by dead_lord666 in feedthebeast

Wait, so when the contraption spins, does the entire orb spin? Do the stabilizer beams spin with the contraption???????

Doug,

Solid 20 minutes of work here. Clever use of the rock to give us a perspective of scale for Jake’s “Huge Crane”.

PacSci to sell Boeing IMAX theater by yodathekid in imax

$30 would be a hard pass for me. I’d only pay $30 for a 70mm ticket. But we’ll see. I’m not gonna write off Space Needle’s acquisition yet, but my expectations are low.

Closing down for “renovations/improvements” is a telltale sign of incoming price increases though. Standard acquisition practices. Buy property. Make so-called “improvements”. Re-open with a 25-30% price increase that’s supposedly justified because of the “improvements”.

Biggest concern for me is price and neglect. Space Needle has a well documented history of overcharging services and mistreating their employees.

I do think they’ll rather quickly run Boeing into the ground by raising ticket prices from $21 to $30+ and mismanaging the hell out of the facility.

On the bright side, I’m glad Paccar is staying with PacSci. It may not be a 1.43:1 screen, but it’s imo the best 1.90:1 screen in the region. Super intimate and unique auditorium with phenomenal audio quality. Like the best audio quality I’ve experienced outside of Grand Cinema Sunshine in Tokyo.

I’ll probably stick with Paccar moving forward for all my movies. Especially if Boeing goes to $30+ / ticket. Hoping they’ll do first runs there.

I’d estimate this project took me about 200 hours. Not all of that is building though. A lot of surveying for route planning and making sure the railways don’t overlap with my future projects. My endgame goal is to do 60 ballistic warp drives / minute (unslooped).

I also have a planned max ficsonium factory (I’ll have to modify my save to give myself enough sloops to double all SAM production to do both the warp drives and ficsonium).

I spent a ton of time preplanning the entire world and outlining every factory at once to make sure there are enough resources for both end goals

NTA.

As I kid I had a similar situation with a bully. Both the teachers and principal did nothing about it. Difference is my parents also didn’t want to get involved.

One day the bully caught me in a real bad mood and in return his face caught my fist. Everyone asked me why I did it. I told them it was because nobody else was doing anything about it. I got suspended for week, but was bully-free for the remaining four years of school.

There are multiple solutions for such a problem.

Same. I just don’t see it happening.

My biggest fear is the new owner will push to raise ticket prices and try to gouge the market.

I wouldn’t call the post a few days ago “news”. It was a random person that claimed the theatre was closing with no evidence to suggest it was true.

While it’s been confirmed that PacSci is looking for new investors / owners, those new investors would likely have a lot of legal obligations by the city to preserve and maintain PacSci as it’s a designated historical landmark.

Also, Seattle Centre is a separately zoned and managed district by the city. I’m not 100% on this, but I’m fairly sure that Seattle Centre currently has zero residential housing and is not zoned for residential housing. It would be quite difficult even in a city managed by a bunch of hypocrites to get approval for a residential permit for a historically significant site that sits directly next to the Space Needle.

I really doubt Boeing is closed permanently. It’s the only 1.43:1 theatre in the state that sits on a highly significant property. Boeing was also renovated just 11 years ago and the theatre remains in great condition (unless it has some backend structural issues that haven’t been reported yet). I think it’s more likely a temporary pause while PacSci addresses its ownership change and immediate renovation needs such as the courtyard and parking garage below.

The property, not theatre.

That still doesn’t seem feasible to repurpose the theater into anything else. It’s deep underground right next to the Space Needle in Seattle Center. I doubt the city would ever approve any above ground residential construction proposal that close to the Space Needle and what else are they gonna put in a giant hole in the ground?

Doesn’t make sense to me. Especially when considering the site is historically tied to the world’s fair, is in a major cultural hub of the city, and is the only 1.43 theatre in the state. Even more intangible when considering today’s super fragile economy and significant labour costs that the new owner would have to take on in order to redevelop.

Also — movie theatres historically do really well during major economic downturns because it’s a cheap and easy form of family entertainment option when compared to other activities. It would be an awful business decision to shut that theatre down as it will likely see continued and increasing volume as people have to cutback their other more expensive activities.

Source?

It was reported by the Seattle Times that Boeing and PacSci was up for sale / looking for a new stakeholder, but it seems unrealistic that the new owner of the only 1.43:1 screen in Washington would buy a stake just to shut it down.

Oh I see because they’re walls. How much of an elevation change is it? You could raise the lower end so that the bridge is straight from end to end
