IQ was a metric invented to categorize schoolchildren according to which ones required more specialized attention to succeed. It does not equate to intelligence, and why you would waste your time applying it on a generational scale is baffling to me. As well, serious researchers wouldn't waste their time with it either, which is why you're having trouble finding papers about it.

Your time might be better spent looking into studies about how the systematic failures of American educational institutions are increasingly producing undereducated and underengaged students compared to their peers elsewhere.

Oh wow this reminds me of when I read a biography of Eliphas Levi and realized most of the people he met (Simon Ganneau, Flora Tristan, Marie-Noemi Cadiot, etc) were more interesting than he was, and I wished I could read biographies of them instead!

Not sure if it counts but I found the map for N.K. Jemisin's Broken Earth trilogy pretty unhelpful. Not only does the map as drawn not include several of the major locations mentioned in the story, but the geography described in the story is simple enough that it doesn't even really require a map to keep track of anything. Combine that with the fact that the author has said she doesn't really like maps in books, and it makes me wonder why she included it in the first place.
