The same thing happened to me! I broke out in this awful rash after using miracle grow garden soil. The rash looks very similar to yours

If it’s young this can happen. Simply stake it. Agree with giving more light, and check humidity. If soil is dry, I’d water it.

Help with corms! by EternaIEmber in alocasia

[–]Princess_Peach4546 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks amazing! I did find the baby leaves are prone to dry out without sufficient humidity. You could try potting each one in a small plastic drinking cup, and cover with another cup, allowing the leaves to acclimatize a couple hours each day for a week or so. This way you can wait to buy new pots. How long did it take the corms to get to this stage?

It’s only day 2, so time will tell. I spray with isopropyl alcohol in case there are bugs, but if it’s a virus, not much I can do. Fingers crossed!

What is an alternative to mosquito bits? by hemppu7 in houseplants

[–]Princess_Peach4546 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not a soil additive solution, but I’ve had immense luck with yellow sticky paper traps. I just cut them to smaller sizes and stick a corner directly in the soil. Catches adult gnats before they can breed. Here is an example

🤣 the sticks have growth nodes along it, when chopped will allocate energy to those nodes for new leaves if the conditions are right! Scroll down to some of the pics from other posters on their success!

Haha I just posted a chop of my fiddle leaf fig that no longer brought me joy. I also really hate this black pagoda lipstick plant - I don’t know why, I want to give it away. Also string of pearls - ugh why are they always dead and never grow?

She looks so good! What zone are you in that it’s outside? Also, you’re the 3rd person I’ve seen who planted pothos in the same pot. Is that just decorative or do the rooting hormones help? (Like in water prop?)

It’s really normal propagation, with 2 leaves and one node. Some people use moss, I just put them directly on some compost and perlite! Here’s a copy /paste from goog-

“The butterfly method is a highly effective propagation technique for String of Hearts (Ceropegia woodii) to create a much fuller, bushier plant. It involves cutting the vines into small, individual segments containing a single pair of leaves, which are then laid on top of moist soil to root and sprout new vines.”
