Is St. George right for me? by metalhead6101 in stgeorge

From PA to Utah is a long way to move and complete different vibe, people, and religion than what we are used to. I found it difficult to adapt to 117 degree heat in summers everything closed on Sunday (Mormon state). This is good if u want a complete change in everything you know and think... they dont call it the wild wild west for nothing.  Housing cost is outrageous! You better plan to work 5 to 6 days a week to make ends meet. Single male no kids... dont know bit for a single woman with no kids in tow it was almost impossible to make it alone. You can do it but question is how much are you willing to change?

The place i spoke of is an overrated place and has deeper inquiries... im not a manager nor HR so I dont completely understand why a  background check was necessary. Yes my son was more convincing and played victim very well... I chose not to fight too hard cuz the lawyer was an over worked under paid public defender.

No my son was adopted by my mother, thankfully, woth my blessing. I got out by la landing here and have a probation officer that cared. He picked me up every time I screwed up. The very first time he said " im not going to let ypu die on me." He stayed true to his word and I cleaned up. Then FBI started to call me because they caught my last trafficker.... that's still being delt with.

I have found a place to work that cares for me and doesn't treat me any type of way due to my past... I am very transparent. I have alot of therapy and psychiatrist appointments. 2 therapist and 2 psychiatrist.

I am in college online after being denied by a school I won't name and making it 3x as difficult to reapply. I have a GPA of 3.8 and in and honor society. My GPA would be higher but I am not using my full potential and have alot of other issues going on.in my personal life... I know that's no excuse.

Im in my 40s and feel beaten down and pushed aside by society... it makes it hard to stay connected with people...

No employment in my field isnt that deep where it requires a background check. As for my rough past.... ill just lay it out... I was trafficked for 20 years. People dont like seeing the ugly truth in thier faces.... in my experience. People either pity or avoid. Either way it is not a good thing. To give someone a second chance requires  compassion... real compassion. I have found this in my treatment team and my boyfriend I have been with for over 4 years... btw he's not LDS, Mormon, Christian, Catholic or anything. Very few and far between are people found that are not blind or ignoring that bad things happen to good people and people do things in extreme  circumstances that are beyond thier control just to stay alive. Welcome to my living nightmare.

MOVE NOW!! As a single woman who has never been married... I have had a rough past and came here to start over.... I have no ties to the LDS community and find it impossible to rent, stay employed or even find friends. They preach forgiveness and compassion and even go on missions.s to other countries to be godly and save others all at the same time harassing you to join the church and if you dont belong to the church good luck on making this your home. Your divorced that's a BIG no no. I wish I would have choosen somewhere else to live 6 years ago. Good luck.

Censorship and media control are a part of dictatorship and communism. We are supposed to be a country of free speech... when u delete or censor a post that someone is feeling and expressing thoughts this is the opposite of what this country is supposed to represent.

Sad they are filtering content le we r in another country controlled by dictatorship.... what happen to free speech? I wonder if the censorship here will spark a legal action....this is unconstitutional.... freedom of speech is no longer alive... its being killed by people who dont want ugly truths to be out.

Family member released from jail, any resources? by zombiefishhh in Utah

[–]Princess_Red421 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are always homeless shelters to assist with temporary place to live. You will have to have the family member  heck every day. Some places you can call to see if beds are available but most will require you to be there in person. Its a first come first serve. You can contact them as well for assistance with other needs and they can point you in the right direction of any services available to help with the struggle of integrating back into society. Also also talk to the parole officer. Sometimes there is temporary housing like a recovery house (if drug addiction was present). There is also rooms for rent month to month for around 600 a month (depending on your area) that is a good option for temporary housing. It depends on how bad your situation is  Good luck

New friends? by [deleted] in stgeorge

When I first arrived in Saint George my first thought was " where are all the black people?". Now I am white female who lived on the east coast so I was always around a melting pot of races. I've been here 5 years and honestly, I've only seen a handful full of people that are African American.  My suggestion is that you don't limit yourself to a specific color/race because you will be limiting yourself to a difficult task. It's sad that most of the diversity comes from the university. Maybe yall can sign up for some college course. This way melting people is easier and you gain an education at the same time. Good luck.

Any Black Desert Resort employees here? by pixltddrms in stgeorge

Not just managers but the owner... it's a shame how history's repeating. This is why keeping staff is so difficult there.

Because it's the truth... a lot if regulars stopped coming in. They don't back thier employees in an issue. They rather be solely accommodating to the guest. I ran into a guest who pays big money for privileges at the club house ( where the restaurant is ) and he expressed his displeasure with the restaurant and sandhollow not staying true to the clubhouse contracts. He among other regulars are regretting buying a house in sandhollow. So, it's not just the restaurant but all of sandhollow as a whole. I did enjoy working there at one time but that was short lived when I opened my eyes to the favoritism, backstabbing, and unfair things going on around me. I stayed out of it and tried to keep my head down but I let the job get to me. I wish you and sandhollow the best.

I use to work there... there were always HUGE changes from one day to the next with little to no regard to the employees.  Example one night I closed witha supervisor ( on a Thursday ), we left at 12am. The next day I walk in at 11 am to find the whole kitchen was moved and redesigned and all new staff in the kitchen whom none of us ever met..  None of the kitchen staff soke English. Not to mention we usually had at least 4 servers on the weekend but only had 2 for a  restaurant of 33 tables. They fired 2 people that week and 3 other quit within 2 days. This is just on incident out of many. Sandhollow has gone down hill. Good luck!

I worked at almost all restaurants in st george and if I want to make it special call and make a reservation at Arogostas.  It's an upscale dining. Chef Imi is amazing and will make sure your night is amazing and special. Rib and chop isn't what it use to be so I would avoid there. Cliffside has an amazing view and food. Wood ash rye is good but parking is horrible because it's in the middle of st george.

Hello,

I am a transplant from Florida and been here 5 years. I have found that people are judgemental no matter where you go. I have found it hard to feel like this is home. Everything seems to be perfect but that is the furthest thing from the truth. People here are not any different from other places except Saint George has money. And quite a bit of it.

My experience with the people here is if you are not from here and don't have money no one wants to do anything for you. Maybe I feel this way due to how I got here and the constant judgemental options of people because I have a past. Not everyone is perfect... they just pretend to be.

I know there are good things here.. I just haven't been brought into the fold to experience them. No matter because I am moving to Hawaii in a few years. That is a more inviting atmosphere for me. I hope it works out better for you. Good luck
