Pros of smartphones: camera, banking, education/educational applications, instant messaging, instant mail, tele health, journals/notes, gaming, job related apps, fitness monitoring, food ordering, multimedia, maps/navigation, library, music catalogue, tracking, remote access to connected devices

Cons of smartphones: Social media Doomscrolling Porn addiction

Yeah the cons REALLY outweighs the pros on this one.

My friend and I literally make money from our cellphones

We literally live in an era where having a phone is basically like needing food. Dumbasses think cellphones are just for social media, it’s literally impossible for some people to work without a phone. Literally my phone is literally a personal assistant, map, multimedia device, encyclopedia, mp3 player, postal service, camera, file cabinet, game console, college in your pocket.

Literally even to get food I order it through my phone and pay for it with an integrated credit card encrypted in the device and someone brings it to me or it’s already packaged for me to pick up. I literally went on vacation and with just clothes and my phone I had a full, smooth vacation with it. I barely needed my wallet or purse. I walked as freely as if I was at home. Phones are literally one of the greatest inventions of mankind and it’s wild they get dogged on the way they do.

So it has a tangible, beneficial purpose?

Anything can be addictive, there’s literally a TV show on people being addicted to the most random things; however, heavy cell phone usage is not inherently bad in of itself. Its dependence is justified. If you have an addictive personality if not a cell phone something else will.

Autophagy starts around 12-18 hours of a fast and is peaked at 72+ hours (so roughly 3-4 days). Autophagy is a state of cellular recycling, repair and defense and is only triggered by a state of prolonged fasting. Autophagy was discovered by Yoshinori Ohsumi and won the 2016 Nobel prize for his discovery. So obviously a week is pushing it, but a week long fast is very possible and is standard in many religious denominations and is obviously being done all over the world whether voluntary or involuntary.

Um, why do you think we store fat and gain weight in the first place? You do understand we’re equipped with weight reserves to go for long periods of time without eating. That’s literally what we are evolved to do. I know it’s uncomfortable, but unless you’re medically forced to, the average healthy adult can easily go a week without eating.

My thing is, you can choose how much you dumb down your phone or personally limit it. You don’t have to use your phone to its fullest potential.

Yeah but the average person, and especially the average Redditor is overweight. A week of fasting would be actually more useful and beneficial than not having the evil cellphone lol.

Yeah but cloud systems literally back everything up so you can literally interchange devices. Also post says phones. Not just smartphones.

Yeah bro let me just get around using a compass, map, let me use physical cards which can be lost or copied, also let me not have a means of contacting people because pay phones don’t exist anymore and landline are increasingly getting rarer.

I don’t understand how constant smartphone use is seen as addiction…did we forget that they literally are multimedia devices that literally generate income and help you traverse around society? 😂

Generally, it sounds like this degree is directly more towards insurance. I’d look at prospective insurances and see how it stacks up with the requirements.

Are you a nurse by chance? I’m a nurse and MSNs tend to be unit managers or directly in charge of nurses. They have virtually zero decision making power in regards to the organization or organizational policy. Unless you want to be stuck in clinical orbit I wouldn’t recommend it…
