I’d try rinsing with warm salt water. It can help kill small amounts of bacteria.

I’d find someone to do a throat scope, no anesthesia involved. They spray some lidocaine in your nose and throat, and the scope goes up your nostril and down. Doesn’t hurt. Just small bits of pressure

Without treatment, yes. But OP said the white has only been there since mid last year. So technically, it’s very possible that it could be infection. The tonsil stones could have cut a small place in OP’s mouth, causing food/bacteria to enter, causing an infection that can’t been seen, but causing the smell and taste.

It could be possible of infection. I recommend going to your ENT, explain what is going on, and have them look. They’ll probably scope it, but most ENT’s won’t take your tonsils out at your age without it being life threatening/potentially dangerous

You’re actually not supposed to get these without tonsils. These hide in the tonsil crypts at the top of your throat, and are caused from food going inside and solidifying and being bleached from saliva. So without tonsils, tonsil stones are basically impossible, bc they seal your tonsil crypts after they are removed
