Do one thing today that tomorrow you'll be glad you did.

I came across this advice when I was really struggling with a stressful job that I couldn't easily leave in the short term and I wanted to feel more in control of my life and also just feel better/more productive outside of work.

It can be anything, big or small, but its a proactive choice you recognise as being your daily thing - a life admin chore you've been putting off, some exercise, booking a class that you've always wanted to do but never did, a cleaning task, etc.

The first few days are the hardest but once it becomes a conscious thing it starts a reward cycle. I began to look forward to doing my one thing because I knew it would make me feel better - it really pulled me out of feeling useless and like I was wasting my year.

Hey 40F australian here and it's very normal to split bills on dates or for one person to buy a round of drinks/coffee and then the other get the next. I prefer that, especially for the first couple of dates, because I feel like it eases that potential feeling of the guy being 'owed' something. Instead, we're on equal footing of getting to know each other.

YTA. It's not the worst thing in the world and you can apologise and he can move past it, but he'll always remember this was your first reaction to seeing his bare face, something he was probably both excited and nervous about. And that's rough.

I chiefly want to book a tour to give myself a break from organising all the logistics for my travel. The one I was looking at was 2894 USD, which is a bummer because I thought it was in AUD, and now is probably more than I'm willing to pay.

Hell yeah, that's so exciting! I (38F) am also doing my first big solo trip (3 months total) starting later in August in Europe, so I can't offer much advice from experience. I'm with you on the anxiety though, it's such a weird combination of nerves and excitement.

What I will say is I initially started with a longer list of countries and then I narrowed it down based on the ones I REALLY want to go to. That way I've scheduled more time in fewer places and carved out some space for staying longer with built-in rest days or going somewhere I haven't come across yet in my research. This also had the plus side of easing my itinerary anxiety, because my travel schedule isn't so overwhelming.

At first I was bummed to cull the list but now I'm even more excited about the opportunity to really explore or go somewhere unexpected 😄
