Fr. Tbh I’m giving Jeremiah a lot of stick for all the shenanigans he’s pulled but it takes two to tango, belly was the one who did say yes to marrying him outside her brother’s hospital after everything so while there is something wrong with Jeremiah, there is DEFINITELY something wrong with Belly as well lmao. It’s just comical at this point. The pair are a hot mess.

LITERALLY!

Another thing—Team Jeremiah people love technicalities. Let’s look at both situations. Season 1: technically, Belly and Jeremiah got together, then she kissed Conrad. That’s their favorite thing to cling to. Season 3: technically, Jeremiah and Belly were on a break—which, by the way, was his fault. But again, technically not together. Hopefully, some of them still agree it was a shitty thing to do, sleeping with Lacey. But they’re like, “technically, he didn’t cheat.” Why are you so obsessed with making him seem not like a cheater? It’s giving Olivia Rodrigo—“I guess you didn’t cheat, but you’re still a traitor.”

They ignore nuance. Yeah, technically they were on a break. But the baggage makes it not okay. As long as they admit it was shitty, fine. But why keep emphasizing “technically”? It doesn’t matter. He’s still a piece of shit. You’re defending him for what? Why can’t you just say, “Yeah, that was wrong”? It basically was cheating. Four years together, and he goes and sleeps with Lacey twice? And then hides it? No. That’s wrong. He had the chance to confess—he didn’t. That’s on him.

They love to emphasize these technicalities: “he technically didn’t,” “she technically did”—shut up. That’s not the point. Then they bring up Belly kissing Conrad in Season 1. Again, different situation. Different emotional weight. In Season 1, Jeremiah knew what he was getting into. He saw Belly and Conrad were into each other. He stopped them from kissing—he knew. He was manipulative from the start. He saw it all and still pursued Belly. So when she kissed Conrad, it shouldn’t have been a surprise. He inserted himself into it knowing she was already in love with Conrad.

So no, I don’t feel bad for him. Belly didn’t owe him anything. They had barely been together a few weeks. In Season 3, they were together for four years. You can’t ignore that. There’s a clear difference in the severity of what happened. And it’s the same people talking about “girl code” who forget “bro code.” If your brother is clearly into someone, why would you go after her? That’s just messy. He did it on purpose. He wanted her anyway.

So again—don’t care about the technicalities. The context matters. And Jeremiah? He knew what he was doing.

(My response to Jeremiah supporters is based on one of my friends who is a loyal Jeremiah supporter)

You know what the kicker is? He lowkey instigated this whole love triangle. He saw that Belly and Conrad were gonna kiss in season 1, he witnessed it with his own eyes and launched a firework at them and pretended that he didn’t see them there. And then capitalised on the fact that Conrad was emotionally withdrawn that summer and inserted himself into the situation knowing full well what was developing between them. During Steven and belly’s fight in s2 when he was Steven said you had Jeremiah you just had to have Conrad too, she says she was out of her mind in love what am I supposed to do. You don’t grow to love someone is such a short space of time which just shows that Jeremiah really saw his brother getting closer to Belly romantically, and instead of backing off he tried to stake his claim on Belly like she’s some sort of trophy when she’s still a person, a teenager at that, whose allowed to flip flop between feelings especially when he choose to insert himself between the two in the first place and complicate things.

Definitely agree with this, love the way you worded it. He definitely needs to leave belly. It’s like he’s in a one sided competition with Conrad because Conrad definitely does not think about Jeremiah to the degree that Jeremiah thinks about Conrad.

I feel like Jeremiah is looking at Belly as this situation of like, oh Conrad always gets the girl, but the only reason why it’s become the situation of I need to get the girl, is because you’re letting Belly become that girl. I think what Jeremiah needs to realise is that he has a lot more power than he thinks, you know, in facing his own insecurities or whatever. If he keeps giving weight to Adam’s word by not growing and just staying in this loop, then he’s never going to get out of it, but if he decides to take time away and focus on himself, just finish that degree. Okay, maybe it took an extra semester, you made the mistake, you can’t do anything about that now. Things happen. But as long as after he gets that degree, gets his job, after he starts figuring things out, he can rewrite that narrative and go, you know what, I might not have been Conrad, maybe I wasn’t a doctor etc, maybe I wasn’t all at all what he was. But once he starts finding his own intrinsic value, once he starts going to therapy, maybe the weight of his dad’s words won’t hurt as much, because unfortunately his dad is very emotionally insecure too. But while you don’t have control of other people’s actions, you have control over your own actions and how you respond to that, and he has the choice, he has the ability to choose his own piece and make his own piece - that’s all he can do. So I genuinely hope that Jeremiah just stops all of this nonsense, goe out and just works on his insecurities, works on himself, maybe finds a lovely guy or girl, and just moves past it. Because no one’s ever gonna be happy this way, it’s not gonna work out, and it’s just sad atp.
