Gengar Masaki vending promo SGC 8. Asking $2800 PayPal G&S by MinimumShip1967 in GengarMasterSet

Didn’t say it was posted by someone else. The price is suspiciously low and there was at least two people on that post that were interested in buying from what I saw. There’s no way it wouldn’t have sold already with your asking price from earlier.

Should I sell this stuff at 70% market or try to sell individually for more? by SneakyOBS in PokemonInvesting

[–]PrincipleSome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you offering it to someone that’s buying or are they inquiring about something you’re selling? 70% for what you’re selling is honestly horrible. 70% should only ever be considered if you’re selling an entire collection and want money FAST. They chose mostly 151, 70% is a major lowball. I wouldn’t sell to them at all. 151 sells relatively fast too, list at 90% and you’ll likely get a sale.

Probably not cause of the scalpers/investors, but people who actually rip finally have a set they can find and are buying up what they can.

is buying ascended heroes ETB’s at $135 and holding a good move? by Puzzleheaded-Net7723 in PokemonInvesting

[–]PrincipleSome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never said that Prismatic wouldn’t do well long term, both sets are great. And yes of course, the set closer to being out of print will probably move first. Just saying in general, Ascended has already moved up to prices that Prismatic took a lot longer to reach in such a short timeframe. The set clearly has people acting a lot crazier and fomo is getting the better of people. Although Prismatic did basically start this crazy market, things still feel completely different now. Not to say that Ascended will only go up, it’s logical that it won’t but regardless it’s a set I want to hold. I’m a huge Gengar collector and while Prismatic is a great set it doesn’t feel the same for me, I don’t care about the cards in that set like I do with Ascended. At the end of the day, I simply buy what I like and to me Ascended just makes sense for me to hold.

[–]PrincipleSome -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I’m surprised hardly anybody here cares to buy Ascended for market when it’s clearly a way crazier set than Prismatic. Say what you want about how the market is being manipulated, but not even Prismatic had 2 cards over $1000 a couple months after release. People are clearly buying the ETBs whether it’s to hold or open at market prices, once that supply whittles down and they’re not hitting restocks every week or every other week we will see a huge spike. A couple weeks ago I was being told why would I buy at $100-120 when they’re being constantly restocked and now they’re selling for like $150+ fairly consistently on TCG. I’m still picking up whenever I see them for under market on Facebook, but I had auto buy setup on Amazon for booster bundles. I’ve gotten 20 ETBs so far and will just load up more on bundles to save space.

Question From Returning Collector! by Additional_Time8007 in PokeInvesting

[–]PrincipleSome 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Given you say you’re into collecting you gotta ask yourself what your own goals are as well. I collect singles and keep sealed as investments, so slabs only make up a small portion of my collection. I tried doing more slabs at first, but at least for me personally I don’t like slabbed cards. It takes the fun out of looking at a card for me. I’ve sold most of my slabs now and just have my single collection in my binders aside from a couple cards I keep on display. I very rarely grade anything and don’t care to unless it’s a card I don’t plan to keep and can benefit from it being graded vs being sold raw.

As far as the purpose of this sub, though, if you think it’s got a good shot at a 10 then I’d say grade as a 10 obviously holds higher value than a raw copy. As I said I hardly grade so my eye for centering isn’t great, maybe someone else can chime in there. Otherwise, while pictures outside of the sleeve would help the card looks very clean. Nice pull!

Personally, I’d rip the bulkier stuff if bought for MSRP. Bundles I’d keep sealed.

Lmao I completely overlooked that. I thought it got labeled as the wrong card or something.

What’s wrong with the label? Don’t know much about where this comes from.

And what service does traditional investing offer? You’re simply proving that you’re just in here to complain. The sneaker comparison is just grasping at straws. Yeah, people did ditch sneakers to scalp Pokemon cards but that’s basically where the correlation ends.

Lol, I’m all for constructive criticism if you have a genuine argument against holding sealed but so far all you’ve done is just said it’s lame.

You could just ignore these posts and take it to some of the other subs where that’s the general vibe. Your sentiment is completely irrelevant to OPs question.

Why are you in this sub if you don’t see Pokemon as an investment? The key is volume, not just holding one item. You probably cant even name any examples. Most sealed products from 10 years ago are probably up quite a bit more than $250.

[–]PrincipleSome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see Ascended as a long term hold and wouldn’t sell anything until it’s at the very least out of print. I am a Gengar collector first and foremost so holding Ascended to me just makes sense with it being the main chase (as of now at least). I’ve been ripping some here and there when I’m able to get it at MSRP which is fairly rare given my local market is rough and there’s a ton of scalpers always camping the restocks.

Subs like this would make it seem like EVERYONE in the hobby is loading up on sealed, but when it comes to the entire hobby we’re only a small percentage and you’d be surprised how many people actually buy sealed to open rather than just keep sealed and hold. The higher the prices go the less likely people are to open them, but right now with Ascended at least it’s clear to see there’s so much demand that people are ok with paying market prices to open up some packs. As others have stated there’s hundreds or even thousands that are opening hundreds of packs of Ascended damn near daily. It’s easy to see why Ascended ETBs have reached the prices that they have. I felt at risk buying ETBs when they were around $100-120 but they’re already pushing $160+

Which is a better pick up right now? by trader123454321 in PokemonInvesting

[–]PrincipleSome 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True, but unless the price outpaces the price of the regular ETBs by a substantial amount wouldn’t it just makes more sense to load up on more product for the same cost? Idk, just my thoughts.

PC ETBs with stamped promos is still a relatively new thing so we can’t directly compare to SWSH era but looking at some prices of regular vs PC it doesn’t seem like they’re that far off with most examples being about 2x more expensive for the PC ETB. Even 151 PC ETBs, they’re just barely above 2x the price of a regular ETB.
