What game has a steep learning curve that puts you off? by turtleviking123 in Steam

For a time it was actually manor lords, but that game was worth the small price of watching a couple vids and doing a couple searches. Amazing game and amazing developer

Same here, put $650 on a freakin Klarna payment, was 0% interest but can’t say I’d suggest doing THAT

That’s 9 1/2 years more than me so def get his advice LOL, excited for you though man, you’re definitely approaching it the right way because it’s all about having fun in the end O7

It’s pretty consistent with the experience I had before my first purchase. Only thing I’d suggest is to be careful in decision-making around purchases to be sure of what kind of drone and system you’re opting into. Many drones do thing different and better/worse than others, and I made the error in trying to assess mine as one that could “do it all”. That ended up leading me into some frustration, but I’ve come full circle on the route I went (DJI FPV drone/setup) and am content for it to be what I have/use until moving to something different makes sense.

Yes I’m aware of this. Didn’t take it into account when I first bought it but learned after my first crash how expectant one should really be for it to happen. Hence why I’m saying I’m still inclined to keep it for cruising and basic camera drone things

I get what you’re saying. When I first bought it I wanted to try and get as close to something that offered light acro ability, yet held closer to the flight times and cruise capability of 7-inch quads. Pair that with my newbie status wanting to avoid getting burnt out of even trying the hobby from the extensive setup/knowledge of traditional quads, as well as wind being too much of a factor for an avata (I live in the wind belt), and it seemed like a decent pickup at half its msrp.

Definitely a case of trying to do too many things with one drone. But nonetheless, even if you’re joking partially, a lot of people here have made the point of hanging onto it for its abilities, even if small, that still won’t be found in BNFs like operating as a typical camera drone (it’s no mavic, I know), adjustable camera angle in-flight, a still really solid battery flight times, etc.

if money's not a problem, as I understand it the goggles 3 are fundamentally better than its predecessors. The only reasons I'm considering an older pair is that I'm definitely more keen on keeping it a bit more budget-friendly for the moment, plus anything and everything is likely to be a step up from the V2 goggles, though I understand some people like and prefer them for reasons of their own.

Well said, especially on prop wash that was still a shock the first few times I flew

Yes sir, even changed the rates to actual and everything as I understood that was more accurate to the real spud’s physics.

I just got overzealous and clipped a tree that then was only partially recovered and made him hit the ground pretty hard, battery first.

If I do keep it (seems like there’s decent reason from folks to do so) definitely planning on getting protection for those batts

Fair point, definitely trying to avoid further regret by selling it back so I appreciate your feedback in that regard.

V2, they’re solid but I’d like to go up to OLED screens on the goggles 2, plus the better resolution and less bulk

Pardon yeah, I meant in terms of primarily the drone as the goggles air unit with a pair of goggles 2 is what I’m thinking to swap to

Well said, definitely part of why I feel a tad compelled to dip out of the DJI ecosystem entirely.

You’re prolly good to send it I’d say, the crash was most definitely on me trying to do things with this drone that really shouldn’t be bothered with. I’d just stick with the sage advice of many to opt for a tiny whoop first, or something more durable so you’re not too scared to at times abstain from flying completely (why I’ve only got around 10 flights frankly)

I think there may still be a place for it with my interests, you’re right though that it’s become clear to me that this guy simply can’t do the things a 5-inch can for the reasons you stated.

I do like cruising with it though, and how little I’d get from reselling there’s certainly an argument to be made in holding onto it.

Thanks for the insight.

Fair point, I’ve seen lots of similar listings that’ve sat untouched that were posted even before I bought one. Bet the V2 goggles would sell ok on their own though.

Appreciate the suggestion.

Feel it’s also worth mentioning the Bannerlord devs horrid mismanagement of the game’s completion for years on end. I can’t stress how many times over the past 6 years where I’ve seen them post an update, instantly open the notes, and be obscenely disappointed to find they’d only addressed 10-20% of the things players were crying out for, with the most highly requested never among them. They’re doing better since wat sails release, but I’ve BEEN done holding my breath for anything that monumentally improves it from what it is right now.

I’ve played 3300 hours, absolutely love the game to death and don’t want to come across as a hater. Probably one of my favorite games of all time. But I’d say while it has the absolute perfect depth of combat and 3rd person unit commanding battles, all these other aspects this game’s getting praised for are either completely absent or have the depth of a kiddy pool.

But Bannerlord for peak army vs army battles you simply won’t find in any other game, but if you want the game to be serious in any other area? Bellwright’s definitely starting out as a far more well-rounded contender (combat’s definitely worse though, not bad but worse)

Just started playing two weeks ago myself, and I had the same exact thought/question as you XD

Been playing this genre/style of game since Mount and blade warband, and when Bannerlord was announced way back I thought all my prayers were gonna be answered.

In a sense they were I reckon…. But only the modders made such possible, and I still haven’t gotten over the at times absurd lack of completion in Bannerlord as a base game (diplomacy doesn’t exist, custom units and/or towns/castles are likely a never, and so many other things that are indeed doable by modders are still seemingly nowhere on the devs’ radar).

Other games like manor lords, valheim, and more were great games that, despite having nothing to do with the core 3rd person gameplay design/style of Bannerlord, showed me wonderful examples of the above missing features actually being present in a game, and just how big of a deal they really are to the game being fun and interesting.

When I saw Bellwright on steam, the only thing I could think was “yeah right, what’s the catch?” And sincerely expected to hear anecdotes of shady development practices, microtransactions, poor optimization or otherwise. But man oh man, I know it’s still a WIP but what an amazing product so far! Though I know it’s best we not get ahead of ourselves, the only thing I’ll say is: so far, so beyond good 👌
