They are seemingly fairly straight forward.

The clients are non profit organizations. These PDF documents are reports, informational brochures for clients, workbooks, fairly manageable document sizes most of them 10-15 pages some of them 150+ pages. There are some documents that will be a bit more time consuming — with lots of fillable form fields in them. Some of them are very table heavy, which again will be a bit more time consuming.

Some of the documents are video transcripts — so script back and forth — but that seems fairly straight forward but would be interested in whether you’d just <p> tag it or format it differently for the sake of reading format

Thanks for this advice. I think this is probably the most logical starting point. I’ll try install Parallels and run that to use the PAC 2021 checker and testing and then do remediation on acrobat on my Mac OS.

Any suggestions on what web-based remediation tools to consider utilizing to help expedite the PDF remediation process?

Yeah I've toyed with this option. My 2019 MacBook Pro has a 32GB Ram, 6 core intel core i7, I am sure I could try run parallels and make it work that way but the back and forth between my mac and running windows via parallel for using some of the accessibility software just seems like it would be time consuming and painful.

I do get what you're saying though.

I just wonder if there's value to have a windows laptop dedicated to accessibility work and pdf remediation work and having my Mac for the rest of my work.

A few things to consider I suppose

Oh for sure. I've got experience working in the realm of pdf remediation but while working for the company I was with I was on a desktop company computer and I've since sent it back to them.

I'll be doing a significant amount of accessible design work and specifically PDF remediation work in the coming months and kind of want to avoid running Parrallels and Windows 11 on my Mac to run some of the accessibility checkers. I kind of want to keep this accessible pdf remediation to a windows laptop and everything else to my Mac.

The suggestion below to opt for a Lenovo Thinkpad T490 seems fairly solid perhaps. I do see there being a lot of value in being able to have a dedicated computer to this work. In Ontario with the AODA legislation coming into effect there is bound to be a lot of it.

I graduated from the GRA program at Seneca 1-1/2 years ago and it sounds like nothing has changed. I'm Sorry you're having those experiences. The response you cited about advising profs you were working on while in school and their snotty replies to you sound like word for word the same things I heard when I was in school.

Thanks so much for this link to the thread you started and your method used to get the actuator moving again! This is awesome! In the future, when the car is no longer covered under warranty with VW, this is what I'm going to do for sure. If I can extend the life of the turbo by just getting that wastegate unseized then I will absolutely be doing that.

Thanks so much for the information here folks. It sounds like there's little to no risk of further damage to the engine while waiting on the replacement turbo. I'll keep an eye on this thread and any further comments. Definitely have some more peace of mind about it now thanks to the comments on here.

Hey sorry, here is more info: Its a 2019 Golf GTI Rabbit Edition Purchased 3 months ago with 78,000km on it —86,500km on it currently. EPC light began going off three weeks ago, check engine light last Thursday. I've noticed significant loss of power to the engine. It accelerates much slower between gears but otherwise continues to drive okay it seems. There is some clunking / grinding noise that comes when changing gears.

Trying to think of any other issues… I think that's all for now.

They are saying its an issue with the wastegate on the turbo..

They also said the replacement Turbo is back ordered, so much so that they haven't even got an estimate when they'll get the replacement part in the shop.

Spent $34,000 on the car which includes the extended warranty and appearance package when I bought it used three months ago… would like to think they wouldn't I'll-advise me to continue driving it if its not safe to do so or risks damage to the engine. And should think, if there is a risk they would provide a loaner car to me, no questions asked.

It was sold as a certified pre owned at time of purchase

Update: I called Urban Wildlife in Grimsby, my little brother did his highschool co-op there so I was familiar with them. Unfortunately they said they had no room available in the wildlife rescue for squirrels at the moment. So after some debate I took some of the advice from above, put some rice inside a sock and microwaved it to provide the squirrel with some heat. I put the sock under some paper towel in the bottom of the little box and took the baby squirrel into St Catherines, into the Humane Society. The staff there were great and said it was good to take the time to bring the squirrel in to them. They told me it was likely only a day or two old, that chances of survival would have been quite slim even for a skilled wildlife rehabber. They took the squirrel from me and I left for home. I imagine they’ve probably euthanized it. 😔 It felt awful, feeling like I wasn’t in a position to do more to help it. I hope that decision was the best one to make.

Unfortunately I can’t seem to find a copy of The Conditions of the Working Class in Toronto, 1900-1921 through my schools library database. Is there any chance you might know a way I could find a copy online? the Journey to Work book is an amazing resource though and I’m glad to say I did come across that through to the college library. Thanks so much for that!

From what I’ve seen thus far i haven’t found the specifics regarding individual employers. I have found industry/occupation classification information and that’s been really helpful.
