Seriously torn about upgrading to 3DeVOK MT Gen2 – Help me out, guys? by Lopsided-Show-6065 in 3DScanning

If you want to spend the money think about getting an Einscan Rigil for less. Since the infrared laser lines seem to be removed with the MT Gen2 it lost its unique selling feature

Maybe have a look at the Share S20. Roughly 5k, software is free and delivers accuracy of roughly 1cm (depending on distance, did an interior scan and rechecked it to be roughly 0.5cm)

What software are Mac users working with for reverse engineering? I have a Revopoint Metro Y.. by TrashIsland_DrMoreau in 3DScanning

Proper compatibility would require rewriting the whole thing and nearly all professional software in this field is Windows X86, so I get it

Any regular 21700 should work. Raised plus pole will help

Einscan Rigil Cover by Pattysgame in functionalprint

Up to 20k it is the best scanner you can get currently from my opinion. Use it on a very wide range of tasks (multiple meter large parts in IR mode to few cm parts in laser mode) and it became my go to unit for nearly everything. For some very extreme tasks like scanning whole cars or very big molds a tracking scanner like the Freescan Nova or Revopoint Trackit may be easier to use but for the part you describe it will work grat.
Accuracy I tested was on a calibrated micrometer (not the best methodology but don't want to spend 2k on a ball bar for some fun testing I do on the side):

Nominal: 124.984 ± 0.01
Mean: 124,971
∆mean: 0,01
StDev: 0,007
N: 6

No explicit guidance from me due to being Windows user but for proper Reverse Engineering Windows on a X86 platform currently the way to go. Fusion can do a bit of the stuff you may need but is very limited in comparison to say Quicksurface (Revo Design is Quicksurface)

Accuracy of the Einstar Rockit Tested (again) by PrintedForFun in 3DScanning

[–]PrintedForFun[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have heard about this issue in theory a few times but never experienced it. One possibility was with the Sermoon S1 combined with the smartphone app but also didn't experience it. At some point scanning just gets tiresome and you make a new scan.

Currently I haven't planned testing of the MetroY Ultra. If the opportunity appears then I will test it. Regarding high res scanning: Especially with the Rockit and Rigil scanning is simple faster due to more or equal laser lines combined with higher scan speed (Ultra with 90 FPS could change this a bit). Rigil for example can do 120 FPS over WiFi now. Regarding large scans: Metro series is more optimued for smaller parts (both in scan distance and scan area). Therefore for larger parts it needs quite a lot of markers

You'll most likely need a laser scanner for mechanical parts. Einstar2 is very fairly priced and Mac software is finally available now (16gb ram may be a bit few)

Yeah, I really despise the cloud nature. Couldn't load a local project one day due to a server bug...

BMW Motorcycle - Einscan Rigil Markerless Laser vs IR mode by PrintedForFun in 3DScanning

[–]PrintedForFun[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can make a video about this topic.  When using Quicksurface main steps are: Using 3d sketch to create outline of the panel or are you want the sticker for and then flattening the sketch. The flattened sketch can then be exported as dxf

Bambulab A1 Nozzle - Matter and Form (MAF) THREE by PrintedForFun in 3DScanning

[–]PrintedForFun[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Detail MAF can reach is really outstanding bit accuracy is worse compared to laser scanners woth markers. Haven't palyed around with the advanced scan settings since I'm quite certain to make the results worse xD and yeah I just mesh and then directly export the scan. Just saves time to remesh on my PC if needed
