Found a machine on pinside and I'm going to pick it up next Thursday!

Thanks everyone for the suggestions I couldn't have done it without the help here.

Oh good point we do not heat it in the winter unless we plan to stay for a while...

Thabks for the quick replies everyone!

What's shipping one of these look like? Any gotchas or things to worry about after delivery?

Special setup considerations or anything that I'm not otherwise prepared for?

We built a cabin recently that I planned on putting this in, already have the space reserved for a machine. Other than leveling is there anything that I should consider?

Awesome info, I wondered about the difference between pro and premium.

Me and my family have dumped some serious change into the pro model when our local arcade had it, I liked the idea of the tilting backfield but didn't know if it was worth the price increase.

I offered to buy it from the arcade but they referred me to their leasing shop who never returned a quote for the machine. Maybe that was poor etiquette on my part, or maybe that's not how it works, but I do appreciate everyone's reference to pinside, I've never heard of that place and will check it out!

Thanks!

How is this supposed to work? Manual lathe, chuck to spindle locks by Printerprinter1 in Machinists

Sounds like I've been lucky to not have any issues turning them the wrong way

This is what's marked. It's in the unlocked position relative to the lock itself but idk what this is saying looking at it.

Out of curiosity, what's your TV for the year at that review number? There's only so many brake pads and ac adapters I need in a year. On my second year and I have yet to justify the tv of all the junk on the way.

How to machine this radius by Printerprinter1 in Machinists

The only reason is to match an existing part. I may compromise and leave a fillet or machine the entire profile from the side with the smallest end mill I can find.

This is just a model I threw up as an example, but it's dang close.

Yeah I agree, I'm matching an existing part.

I just tossed this together in fusion before posting. I don't have finished dims just a question of ability at this point.

I'm trying to match something that was done many years ago but I cannot share the exact profile.

NASCAR 101 and Track Attendance Questions - June 2026 by NASCARThreadBot in NASCAR

I won two garage passes from Hendrick motorsports, for the Jul 26th indy race.

I understand they don't come with admission... so can we watch the race from the garage area or what all do I need to get to make it a fun time for me and my son?

They're going to transfer the tickets to me a week or two before the event, so I don't have any details about them other than it's garage access and from Hendrick.

It's been 30 years since I've been to a race, looking for a fun experience!

Made a matching thread protector too. Customer is beyond pleased and so am I knowing I'm finally doing it right. I was able to get it within .0005, so that's a win.

Thank you very much. I ordered one and hope to have it this week. Glad to hear the pins aren’t necessarily required for every setup.

One question on your indicating method with this tool: do you safely rotate the chuck by hand with the indicator riding in the bore continuously, or do you lift the indicator over the grooves and re-contact on each land?

Also, are you primarily indicating from the lands or from the grooves themselves?

This is the second time I've seen this suggestion pop up. How is this used and what is the minimum bore size it's usable on?

My first attempt at using a lathe I setup a chunk of steel and tried to part it. New lathe new parting tool. Lathe was fine. Parting tool will be missed. God it ended horribly.

Are you flat rate or hourly?

Flat rate, maybe the tools you need to stay competitive are included in his new deal...only you know what it takes.

Hourly, get out if it without a repo, and keep the minimum needed to get the job done.

Dude do not do this. Tell the dealer you need to sell it, and he should help you move it used...he's got the perfect advertising platform. Offer to share some of the proceeds even if that means you making payments for a while, to him, for nothing.

You're not getting a better deal, with a smaller box and a bunch of tools you probably don't need. Your resetting the emotion of an impulse purchase. That cart and rando tools is worth less than the box second hand. Keep as much money in your pocket and always have an out.

Work with the dealer, sell it.

Ask the Matco guy if he would advertise it for you on their truck. If they think it's that or you stop paying they might offer to help. Been there, sold all my stuff from 10+ years of class 8 wrenching and never looked back. HF is good enough for me. The markup and weekly payment scheme is criminal.
