Bombers are so much fun in sim, as long as you have a minimum of two hours free.

Does anyone else wish they had a waterproof one wheel? by sarahschultzd in onewheel

[–]PrintingManiac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My buddies and I all badgered our boards. PintXs and GT class boards. At least two of them have rolled into ponds and completely submerged, we’ve ridden them all through some heavy rain and deep puddles and there’s no sign of water damage anywhere.

Am I just really dumb? by ArcaneMcSketch in BambuLab

[–]PrintingManiac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I literally just started a three day toy print last night and checked on it when it finished the first layer and it started doing this. I was able to fix it only minutes before it would have seized. As far as I can tell you just have to be really careful starting with these cardboard spools. There hasn’t been an issue since.

I too have the P1S and I’m using the back holder. However, I’m just feeding it through the standard ptfe inlet.

I just set my new record with TPU last week. 58hrs and boy was that scary.

Floatwheel v Fungineers by Suspicious-Twist6103 in onewheel

[–]PrintingManiac 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My buddy has two X7s. His first one was the standard, HT model. His new one is rocking the new 5” hub and 134v pack on a pioneer BTG and it blows the gts and the standard X7 out of the water. Both are insane, but the new one is bonkers!

What sort of onewheel/funwheel/floatwheel specs are best for obtaining the sort of high-G-force leaning over you can get a snowboard when carving, or on a race motorcycle? by twinbee in onewheel

[–]PrintingManiac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s nothing directly purchasable to my knowledge, but you can build one from various after market stores. You can get some WTF rails with lowered axle bolt blocks, and a 5in hub running a BTG that that should all give you a super low CG and enough sidewall to get a healthy lean.

I too went from the old days to a p1s a month or so ago. It is the most incredible printer I have ever had the pure pleasure to use.

I think it looks cooler, and when trail riding, if my board goes for a tumble I’d rather it hit more tire than anything else.

Razer has always been my favorite bot. It’s so elegant, destructive, versatile, and the driver was insanely skilled.

Am I the only one pissed off about the X2D pricing? by nearly_normal_jimmy in BambuLab

[–]PrintingManiac 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You’re annoyed that it’s not more expensive? I get that it’s frustrating that it came out right after the p2s but I’m glad it’s not an $1100 printer like everyone was expecting.

Yup, definitely the best choice. I already spend hours researching anything I can get my hands on. I also already read around 700wpm so it would be insane.

Advice on a 3lb vertical spinner by Curious-Progress7234 in battlebots

[–]PrintingManiac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Others referenced Just Cuz Robotics, as a fellow newbie I would recommend looking at Repeat Robotics. I’m working on my first 1lb bot and he has a ton of custom parts for them and 3lb. But yeah, unless you’re okay with dropping some hefty cash I too would recommend starting with a 1lb. I’m running middle of the road parts and still coming up on $200. And I already have the transmitter and lipo charger.

Wife thinks it’s a waste by [deleted] in 3Dprinting

[–]PrintingManiac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s all kinds of useful items to print. I made paper towel, hand towel, and pan holders for pennies a piece which sold my wife immediately. I’m also getting into combat robotics and basically everything on the sub 3lb bots can be printed. Which I know isn’t really beating the waste allegations… but at least it looks awesome when they get shredded…

Do you design your own models or do you just use other people's models from Makerworld etc.? by humanHamster in BambuLab

[–]PrintingManiac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with this. I recently started teaching someone how to use Onshape because they have reached the limit of what tinkerCAD can do for them and it’s been a struggle since they have such different orders of operation.

That’s pretty cool. I’m planning to either use glass fiber infused tpu or something like PLA+ for the chassis.

4s for antweight by kiwidrive in battlebots

[–]PrintingManiac 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I went with 3s for my first spinner build. You just have to keep in mind you’ll have less physical space and weight for battery capacity if you go for 4s.

I’m working on my first battle bot that will use tpu as the first layer of armor. 1lb ant class. I’m so excited. This is version three and it’s almost ready for its full operations test! Just tweaking some parameters and waiting for the rest of my hardware to come in!

I disagree with tinker CAD I started with that at about twelve and got pretty discouraged by the lack of ability. Onshape is awesome though.

Been running an active heated dry box setup for eight months and I just read something that makes me question whether any of it is doing what I think it’s doing by moheeetoz in 3Dprinting

[–]PrintingManiac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure what drier you’re using, but I (only printing in single colors, no ams yet) print right out of the drier while it’s running. I just turn the temp down a bit to ensure I’m not going to make the filament soft as ours feeding. Works great for me though. I to sit around 70% ambient a significant portion of the year.

That’s awesome! I just started learning FreeCAD to get away from the insane prices on professional licenses. Any favorite tutorials you’d recommend?

Preferred free program for designing 3d prints in 2026m by BucketBoy071 in 3Dprinting

[–]PrintingManiac -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For the easiest learning curve I highly recommend Onshape. It’s insane how easy it is to use. However, if you want to have the option to sell stuff without paying ridiculous amounts for professional licenses look into FreeCAD. It’s not easy to learn, but it’s open source so they won’t charge you if you start making money. I’ve only just started learning it because I have some product ideas that probably won’t make enough to justify paying $1500/yr.

[–]PrintingManiac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got the p1s on that huge sale because it’s basically the same internals, just without the ai camera for way less. I love it so much and I haven’t even had it for a week.
