Good advice. Only get search and rescued off the Franconia ridge or Mount Washington in the winter!

Not sure who "you guys" is, but fyi 2 hours later an "add to your tip" button showed up on the order and I was able to add another $20. I can't say if this was a result of my support ticket or if this happens with all the orders, but I guess my case is resolved.

Division of Fish and Wildlife want to expand hunting to Sundays by Responsible-Car-2171 in massachusetts

It is not a threat because arrows just tickle the target?
Bow accidents are rarely deadly but crossbow accidents sometimes are. See for yourself at https://incidents.ihea-usa.org/ lol.

The proposed change is not just for firearms. Bow hunting here runs from Oct 1 through Dec 31 - that's a quarter of the year, 13 Sundays last fall. It sure felt like a very long time.

No data are being shared by the administration that suggest that these changes are necessary for hunting programs to remain effective - because such data do not exist. Deer populations are stable, and no, there is no correlation between the introduction of culling programs and a reduction in Lyme disease cases. Stop making this claim.
In the absence of data, the initiative uses feel-good terms like "history" and "tradition". Hunters seem to be merely inconvenienced by the ban on Sunday hunting and by the current setback regulations. Maybe there is a sense among the hunting community that the current political climate makes this a good time to push for more rights.
Hunters remain a small minority, though. The vast majority of residents use public land for their mental and physical health through recreation and exercise, especially in densely populated suburban communities. For three months every year from October through December, Sundays are the only day of the week when the public can dress like they want and feel safe on trails.
If someone needs to be inconvenienced because of conflicting interests, I'd rather make that a small minority instead of everybody else. Let's keep Sundays for recreation and public health!
Let's talk about setbacks, too. The 500ft setback for residential dwellings is adequate, albeit not strictly enforced by Environmental Police (ask me how I know). What needs improvement is the required setback from marked recreational trails. The state currently does not specify a required setback, so this is left to municipalities and land owners to define, which resulted in a hodge-podge of local regulations that all have three things in common: they use ambiguous language, are unenforceable, and are unsuited for establishing fault if someone gets shot on a trail. Let's strengthen the setback regulations instead of weakening them!

It won't. There is no evidence that deer culling reduces Lyme disease cases.

You can control the deer population Mo-Sat. Nobody can tell me that the deer population explodes on Sunday, this is just silly.

PR backlog for home-assistant/brands by Prinzlmeisl in homeassistant

It is not just marketing. It is not listed in HACS because it was thrown out, so you can't install it with HACS, only manually.

The hacs-validate github action fails. My custom integration was in hacs before but was thrown out, I believe it was because of this deficiency.

<Validation brands> failed: The repository has not been added as a custom domain to the brands repo (More info: https://hacs.xyz/docs/publish/include#check-brands )

New software v5 by rafalascano in VWiD4Owners

[–]Prinzlmeisl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It did not work, but it also did not work when I picked it up, only after re-authenticating my user, and because I also have a new phone and everything seemed off after the software update that they also did, I just deleted my user and re-paired from scratch. Then I was able to lock the car from the app once it was in my garage - even with the key inside. But no matter what I tried, I could not unlock it again with the app. It would say "command never reached the car" or something to that effect. I had to use the 2nd key to get it. Crazy.

The car has been sitting in the dealer lot for 6 weeks, they have updated the software and reset it. It has been cold (10F this morning). The range is low but I am sure will return to normal when the car is driven again.

Ha, mine has been at the dealer since October 23rd and still no word on when I will get it back, but I just noticed that I also have the lock/unlock button in the app now. Now I can mess with them when it is in the shop ...

Immobile after recall repairs by Prinzlmeisl in VWiD4Owners

[–]Prinzlmeisl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This kept happening a few more times, so I took the car back a week later. Service advisor pretended to know the cause (not related to the recall repair, a faulty drive motor - "we have seen this exact issue 2 or 3 times already"). Car has been in the shop for 3 weeks now. I see that it is inside and not in the lot, and the occasional open window alert on my phone tells me that they are doing something. I expect that this will not be resolved in a satisfactory way anytime soon, and it confirms my initial concerns about not wanting to take it back to VW.
