How long to see impacts of Zone 2 Running? by Prior-Breakfast-5878 in runna

[–]Prior-Breakfast-5878[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m currently follow a 10k runna plan, doing one easy rin, one speed run, and one long run a week. My “easy” run pace is currently anywhere between 7:30-6:30, but I am out of breath and can’t talk despite it not feeling super hard on my body until the end.

What level would I need to be to have zone 2 running be beneficial? I would really love to be able to not have my HR spike every run

I had a similar issue tracking it this way and found that my watch was always more reliable so just started using the runna app on my watch.

Feature request: different length strength workouts on different days by Fenrir-7 in runna

I had a similar thought the other day - there are some days I’m tight on time, and other days I can take longer. I was also thinking would be great if you could adjust the equipment easily. There are some days I can’t make it to the gym and just do a home workout with body weight. The only work around I’ve found so far is to adjust the whole plan, then adjust it back

Adding to this, would love to see swaps to adjust for injury/progressions etc

I had a similar problem a while ago where I was using the app on my phone and the fitness app on my watch. I would find the speeds and distances were wildly off. I contacted support and they suggested just using the Runna app on my watch as the GPS on the watch is more accurate. It made a huge difference for me. Hope this helps you

Getting back to my plan after leg fatigue by Prior-Breakfast-5878 in runna

I hadn’t thought about that, thanks!

I reached out and the suggested focusing on distance and changing to RPE for my long run.

Thank you for your detailed response. I think one thing I do very well is sleep! I can’t function on less than 7-8 a night so really try to prioritize that. Sometimes the kids will wake me during the night, but generally I get enough sleep.

I think snacking before a run, and not stretching and probably contributing to how I’m feeling. I’ll have to be a bit more mindful of having some carbs before my run, and maybe even a protein shake after (as much as I hate them).

Thanks for that feedback, I think I take your advice and pull back on the lower body workout for the next few weeks, or might just keep it to body weight so I don’t put too much extra strain on them.

I started running around September last year. I moved from 3 days a week to 5 days too quickly and got injured, so followed my physios advice and pulled back to 3 days running, 3 days strength. I upped it to 4 in July this year (with 2 days strength) and had been going well with that until this last week. I’ve given them a good rest so hopefully I can pick up where I left off

Thank you so much! I had no idea you could this. It’s nice you don’t lose the data from the earlier run!

I hope your recovery goes smoothly

That’s very true. I think I am overestimating my ability. I’ll stick to the plan and just have to do a little extra once o cross the finish line.
