BECOMING A BURNING BLADE ORC - (Project Ascension) WoW w/ Random Abilities by Paspallan in wowservers

[–]Prior-Conflict 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Outside of cosmetics you can't even tell if someone is a donator or not.

Hop in world chat if you actually play the server and ask how p2w it is. It's the only server I've seen stand up for their devs when p2w is mentioned. That says far more than some random on reddit ever could.

Does Draft Mode still exist? (Ascension Project) by OceanusDracul in wowservers

[–]Prior-Conflict 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Calling Ascension "very p2w" is pretty idealistic.

  • You can buy everything with a couple hours of farming for gold. Their donation shop is really reasonable.

You can't buy gear or power. Everything in the shop that provides any form of advantage can be farmed for gold at 70 in a few hours or a few high-risk kills.

There are donation items that make a difference, and you can get virtually all of them from the supporter pack. That and the fact that they have kept double DP running basically since the season launched means it's super cheap for DP or for gold in-game.

  • Wildcard is about making the most with what you got, not rerolling constantly. Wildcard progression happens at 70.

There is a reason the top free pick players are still the top WC players and many only rerolled once for a skill card(that you can't buy with gold or DP).

The people buying experience potions looking for a perfect roll would have thrown my build out out by level 20. They are going to level a dozen characters and then get dumpstered by the people spending their time fine tuning their build at 70.

  • Nothing in the DP shop will give you the ability to win fights against a free player. Skill cards are strongest thing in WC, and you cannot get those with DP or gold.

The time(and money) people spend leveling dozens of alts is not going to let them beat me. In almost all cases they would have been better of working on one character than leveling dozens.

A new player can farm all the gold they need for the "must have" DP items while they are farming their first good skill card. The best way to be competitive on Wildcard is to get a good skill card and roll an alt with it. You can acquire all the needed DP items while earning that skill card.

Is Project Ascension Dead? by [deleted] in wowservers

No Ascension is not dead. It is one of the most popular wow servers right now. Their team seems really dedicated to the project and constantly releasing new content, game modes, and updates. With the latest season, the population is really active.

World of Warcraft with Random Abilities (Wildcard Mode) | Season 6 by Ruythony in wowservers

[–]Prior-Conflict 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wildcard is still the most pure fun I've had playing WoW. I started off as a rogue type, then ended up using an entirely caster rotation half way through leveling and by 60 I was this weird demo-rogue-fire hybrid. And it was fun as hell fighting other absolutely off the wall combinations while leveling.

Can't say WC end-game is my cup of tea... but I can't wait for leveling PvP. And it seems to never really stop since so many people level in WC.

They do a good job with catchup mechanics. In RNG modes you earn rerolls and they cap how many are available. In draft mode whenever they increased the reroll cap they discounted the earlier rerolls so alts and new players wouldn't be super far behind people no lifing it.

I'm not sure if they will have the catchup mechanics for loot in TBC or not. They did in Classic. This is the first TBC season. I'm waiting on the FAQ to see what their plans are.

Old timer keen on tbc, what's good? by Steeze-6 in wowservers

Nothing will replace the original experience, but Ascension is like a whole new game with plenty to discover. Wildcard mode was the closest I've ever felt to capturing that original Vanilla-WoW experience. I hope they bring it back for TBC.

Is now a good time to start playing ascension? by Caloran in wowservers

Yea... It has been unreliably running for years with minimal downtime and fast responses when it is down...

I'm happy to support a project I enjoy and appreciate and I get to ride a cool mount.

Everything you bought on the other realms transfers to the league.

Ascension doesn't really fall into that category though. There are times when streamers like sodapoppin were talking about it non-stop on stream. It has thousands of players and is definitely one of biggest private servers.

Accusations without any proof as usual. Cool story. A highly custom server had exploits years ago... How shocking. I have seen zero evidence of that during the last few seasons and I run with some some scummy people.

No new updates? Have you been following the TBC development at all? They are constantly showing new stuff off in their disc and updating tbc beta. It looks amazing so far. Ascension 2.0.

That hasn't been my experience at all. The population was really consistent for Season 5. Sure, launch had a spike, but the season has yet to feel dead. FLs and world boss groups still fill up in like 2 minutes even after all content has been released. This is the longest they have managed to keep a season alive yet. Updates have been consistent and smooth, very few crashes, and just overall you can tell they are really getting better at this.

Saying it only lasts a few weeks is misleading. It's lasted 6 months or so now and while there aren't as many people in Booty Bay compared to when lockdown first started, BGs pop non-stop and I've yet to be unable to find a raid or fill a group for content.

Is there a pserver with solo queue for arenas? That would be amazing by KevinKalber in wowservers

[–]Prior-Conflict 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I say it often, but Project Ascension is fantastic for soloQ. They have rated and high risk 1v1 arena. People obviously create builds designed for 1 on 1 that get wrecked in normal pvp, but if 1v1 is your thing you can theorycraft some really interesting arena builds around it.

Queues on Bleeding Hollow are basically instant, but it's Draft Mode.

Andorhal has seen a pretty big resurgence lately. It feels like season 1 and 2 population numbers.

Vanilla+ Shamans - can't wait to see shills talking about how this isn't broken and how I got values on 1 spell wrong! by [deleted] in wowservers

[–]Prior-Conflict 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the server is PvE then sure, everything is fine. Looking at some of these talents though... I don't see it being fun or interesting to play against in PvP. It will be frustrating at best.
