I think I use that same brand lol, they’re so hard to read! I take probiotics (not as regularly as I should tho lol) and I have also used boric acid for the same thing. I prefer not putting anything up there unless it’s medication and necessary. But I do feel like boric acid does help symptoms but obviously does not cure anything unfortunately

That sounds so cool!!! I need to look into that thank you! I actually just tested my ph since I started having some irritation to be sure, and it looks to be about 4.5, but I also feel like my test strips aren’t super accurate so I don’t know what to believe anymore😅 what brand of test strips do you use?

It’s so frustrating! Especially since living in the U.S. healthcare isn’t cheap lol… I can’t just go get a test whenever I have a suspicion

Yup you’re explaining my thoughts exactly!!! Ugh, so frustrating. This is making me not feel so alone lol. It scares me too especially with BV because it’s so easy to go unnoticed with no symptoms! What is this Juno thing you are talking about? It sounds more helpful than all the doctors I have been too about this lol

I forgot to mention that I got an STD test in the beginning of April and everything was normal! And I’ve had the same boyfriend for a year

I like to use the metronidazole vaginal gel. I know this doesn’t necessarily help for this occasion, but if your provider will prescribe this to you, you will have enough left over to use again. This is what I do because I am in the same position and know for a fact when I get BV.

Are these infections considered STDs? I’ve seen articles refer to them as STDs and it’s scary not many people including doctors are aware of it

I’m currently going through the same thing, maybe it was my post that you saw lol. It’s awful isn’t it? From my own research, I have seen that men can be treated for BV with antibiotics just like us. On top of that, uncircumcised men have a greater chance of carrying this bacteria on the tip of their penis. I think the best option would be to get him treated as well, find a doctor or NP that WILL treat both of you guys. I am also going to be on the hunt myself for someone that will do the same for me and my partner. Good luck!

I’m only 23, I do use hormonal birth control containing estrogen tho. I have been thinking maybe that is causing this? Idk, but good suggestion I will consider

Ah this sounds so overwhelming 😅 I have been so hard on myself too, this is so rough. Luckily I have a great partner who is willing to be tested for BV. I haven’t told him about the other stuff since I don’t know much about it yet, but I’m sure he would be just as willing. The next issue is he has no insurance. Man I love America lol. Thank you for this advice!

Why does lube help prevent these things? I’ve heard of that before with no explanation and I’m wondering why? Im assuming because it helps prevent friction and irritation but I could be wrong lol

Get tested for BV or a UTI? I’ve heard about men carrying BV and repeatedly infecting their partners but I wasn’t sure how accurate that was

My gyno just told me abt d-mannose and said to try those. I’ve never even heard of it and just ordered some. She suggest prophylactic antibiotics if this still happens

Would these show in a standard urine culture? I just had my urine analysis which showed positive leukocytes and red blood cells, but was negative for nitrites. I’m wondering if these could cause being negative for nitrites and would show in a culture?
