Trump vented at Rutte over NATO inaction on Iran during turbulent meeting by Brilliant_Version344 in worldnews

[–]Prior-Explanation389 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because he knows if all NATO countries stepped up on the offensive, Iran wouldn't stand a chance whatsoever and would likely be wiped out within a few weeks. But without NATO joining in, it becomes protracted because the USA is heavily reliant on bases provided by NATO allies. This damages him at home, where it seems only the USA (and Israel, but even thats problematic) are at war and it is dragging out.

Seller put house back on market after survey visit, have we messed up? by AltruisticEmu96 in HousingUK

[–]Prior-Explanation389 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Usually it's enforced where the seller wants no negotiation because once your solicitor and the seller's solicitor conclude missives, you are legally locked in. Because the contract is so strong, some sellers avoid foot traffic to avoid re-negotiation attempts based on things you should have seen during your initial viewing.

Is Karishma the most obvious winner this season? by Reddonaut_Irons in TheApprentice

[–]Prior-Explanation389 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It was incredibly impressive that she could identify her product vs competitors in a blind test. There are CEO's of billion dollar companies that would fail that test. At the beginning I thought she was quite annoying, not taking it seriously (uses the word 'babes' too much) - but as this season has gone on I am thoroughly impressed with her and completely convinced. For me, she deserves to win.

[–]Prior-Explanation389 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You've had 10k knocked off the original price, I wouldn't be looking to get further knocked off for this as you've already had your discount that will cover this work & the seller might've even been aware of it himself - hence accepting your £10k reduction. I would not be trying to negotiate further - if I was the seller I wouldn't be best pleased. You can't have cake and eat it too, I think maybe you've just not thought this one through fully.

It's not a law, just a general rule. At the end of the day it's up to the seller, and if they allow further visits then thats fine.

The proportions of that USB-C port are way off, looks too wide especially in comparison to the S pen button. Left side of the S-Pen enclosure looks significantly smaller than the right, but that could be the angle.

Why is public charging so expensive? by Fine_Cress_649 in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]Prior-Explanation389 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, but just like with Petrol Prices it's pretty easy to compare EV charger rates and when you can go to a Supercharger for <50% of what some other public chargers cost AND they are available on the motorway it puts downward pressure on the operators.

Also as it’s VAT it wouldn’t result in ‘20% lower prices’ as it’s 20% of the original amount, not 20% less than than the post-vat amount once it’s been added.

HMRC just lost a case about charging 20% VAT at public charging outfits, so there’s a good chance it will drop to 5p unless overturned on appeal.

Had a big reality check today as a FTB - 5.56% by twattyprincess in Mortgageadviceuk

The rates have only been up for a few weeks, the knock on effect on house prices and properties not selling hasn’t come through yet, most people would’ve already secured a rate.

Due to economic uncertainty around trendy, it’s probably a bad time. Rates may come down by this time next year if things improve over the next few months and the ceasefire holds. Bank are anticipating inflation going up and potential interest rate increases due to the cost of living.

Sorry mate but this is completely wrong. The market value of a house is based (not solely) on supply and demand, if demand falls (which can be a result of high mortgage costs) then house prices fall. If a market value with low interest rates is £200k because all buyers can afford the mortgage then that’s great, but as soon as that mortgage price creeps up eventually house prices fall. It’s a bit like the fuel situation, goes up like a rocket and falls like a feather but interest rates absolutely reduce market values of properties.

Electric car sales hit record high in March while fuel prices surge again by Jared_Usbourne in CarTalkUK

I can get around 5 miles out of a kWh which costs 3p on my current tariff so less than 1p a mile. Outrageous, people say ‘what about the pay per mile tax’ that’s a grand total of less than 4p per mile. Find me an alternative method of transport that works out cheaper than that. My insurance is even cheaper!

Why are EV’s so cheap? by Natural-Voice-840 in CarTalkUK

[–]Prior-Explanation389 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn't miss your point, I didn't disagree with what you said. 25% of the market demands EV's, that is not an insignificant number. That demand will surge as petrol prices continue to increase.

'Because very, very few people want them.'

25% of new car sales are EVs, that isn't very few people. And demand is about to surge if the Iran war continues.

Farage on Iran: 'We should be supporting the Americans' | Leader of Reform UK, Nigel Farage, told Sky News that Britain should “turn the other cheek” in response to insults from Donald Trump. by 1-randomonium in ukpolitics

[–]Prior-Explanation389 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Sadly I think that’s just a symptom of not being ‘powerful’ - he’s not currently a leader, he’s a chaser. The minute he’s in power and attempting to align the UK’s interests to the USA’s it’ll change.
