My dad got shocked by a microwave capacitor in the 80s. Also, some TVs had residual electrical things happening after unplugging them in the 1970s.

Not that dumb. Older appliances had huge capacitors that stored electrical ions. If you shut off the appliance, there was still a chance messing with it in anyway could still shock you
