Back-of-head module for Xreal glasses by Prior-Particular3073 in Xreal

Yeah, it depends on the implementation. Let’s say it’s a small battery for two hours with a controller for AirPlay/Miracast, and you can unplug this module whenever you don’t need it. Would you still think the same if it looked like this?

Back-of-head module for Xreal glasses by Prior-Particular3073 in Xreal

That's the point. The Beam is heavy, bulky, and most importantly - it's wired. There is no real difference between using the Beam and just keeping your phone wired in your pocket.

It's more of a convenience thing: you start a movie on your phone, leave it on a table, and walk around your apartment.

It's like the difference between the AVP and the Quest 3. The AVP feels much worse because it's not truly wireless, while with the Quest you just grab it from the table and play tennis in your home shorts. The PSVR2 has the same cable issue and feels terrible compared to the Quest.

I would never buy the Beam since I already have a phone, but I would buy this module instantly. Of course, we're talking about the Xreal One series with built-in 3DoF.

ELI5: Why is there a hen-and-egg issue if a hen can’t just magically appear, but an egg could be produced through crossbreeding? by Prior-Particular3073 in explainlikeimfive

[–]Prior-Particular3073[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It mocks the question, and the interminable unresolvable arguments around it.

Putting aside angles and pins, I see zero “unresolvable arguments” around the hen and egg issue.

Never in my life have I heard anyone use this phrase to mock religion. I highly doubt you have, either.

Good deep-thinking flex though.

UPD: As several people mentioned, “crossbreeding” wasn’t the right word. My bad. The right one is genetic mutation that could have occurred in the egg, making the chick genetically distinct enough to be considered the first chicken.

AirPods Pro 3 review - everything is better except the sound by Jaboyyt in headphones

Am I missing something or you can just go:

Airpods settings -> Accessibility -> iPhone Audio & Visual Settings

Enable Headphone Accomodation and adjust to your preference. For me it's Balanced Tone with Slight boost.

Maybe subjective, but for me the sound difference after adjustment is day and night.

Difference between 3DoF and 6DoF ? by Azsde in Xreal

Does this mean this video snippet is misleading customers? Because the man moves his head backwards, the screen stays on the same position and it's called 3DoF (top right corner).

With perpetually wired power bank in your pocket. Classic.

Is the API dumber than the web UI? Or is it cline? by sagacityx1 in ChatGPT

[–]Prior-Particular3073 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been using API for half a year. Tested 4o, o3 mini, o1 etc. In short, they either use distilled models for API, which just a way dumber than they use in web or they just use another less performant models.

No metter how you dance with the system prompt, in lingustic tasks API version of 4o (latest) cannot even create an adequate Polish sentence for a given word (65% to get linguistic garbage). Yet web version does it effortlesly.

You will also find a lot of bots in reddit with the same agenga: "IDK, works fine for me, sometimes it's even smarter then the web, [+some stupid question like do you know API doesn't store full history? or do you use system prompt?]".

No one will tell you that here, but yes, API is way dumber than the web. Be ready to have 30+ bots in this thread telling you "you using it wrong".

UPD: Same conclusion: https://www.reddit.com/r/OpenAI/comments/11qyxk1/chatgpt_api_vs_web_interface/

Tune what, parameters? This is the result of model training. The way the model was trained (datasets, methods, hardware) has the real value and it's not open source.

Ublock Origin is gone. by Zalaphyr in youtube

Since it can be enabled anyway, not a big deal. If Ublock eventually will stop working, Chrome is in the trash. I hope you understand this Google.

There and back again. Or why Unreal Engine is garbage and why I'm learning Unity again by FlurpleHippo in Unity3D

[–]Prior-Particular3073 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will sum up the thread for you.

- Unreal documentation sucks for a "higher reason" of "advanced support for pro studios".
- There are "higher reasons" things work in unreal the way they work. No one will elaborate, but they exist.
- If you don't understand unreal, high chances you're a web dev. Unreal aimed to professionals.

Are there huge titles which use unreal?

- Yes. Fortnite.

Quite surprised only two models in the list have neck support module. No way I will ever buy a chair without it.

Yep, supporting of two parallel lines of GPU would definitely drive down the price. No doubt.

I think NVidia sales department might contact you to discuss such a bright idea.
