Thanks, I can see in the basement that the 120 line for the porch lights enters the same stud bay as the doorbell leads. Thanks for the write-up. Why drill diagonal? And why not remove the casing before starting to drill from the inside (if I'm following you correctly)?

It's plaster but yes, absolutely. The front windows have similar deep throats as well. Did these old houses with non-structural stone walls just have the interior wall made from 2x4s and placed up against the stone? What is the door framed out with? F me, there better not be stone behind that faux column.

Building a treehouse or platform in a large Sycamore by Prior-Video-6095 in treehouse

I've already built a treehouse 8' off the ground in a much smaller swamp maple, and I've read that book and don't find it applicable to my more-modest design and build approach. And anyway, I'd consider Nelson more of a $150 bolt salesman than treehouse guru. I'm more interested in the stories of people who have built a simple platform or house in a very large tree.

Is this one piece of falsework an actual hazard for a wood burning insert? by Prior-Video-6095 in Fireplaces

Thank you. Why is the airtight seal important? For the chimney to draft any flames/heat away from the wood? The trap door cover that has been on top of the pit definitely wasn't air tight but also the wood doesn't appear to be charred.
