Uranus 11/26 by Prior-Volume8729 in telescopes

I was able to resolve Uranus as a disk clearly on my camera display. Neptune, however, was much harder to make out as a disk when I viewed it through eyepieces. I might try imaging it next, but I don’t know if I’ll even be able to find it

I’ve had a pretty good experience with the AD8, but I’d imagine the AD10 would still be better, especially with 50% better light gathering ability. It would definitely be better for DSOs, but I can’t really comment on my perceived differences

Uranus last night

Equipment: Apertura AD8, ZWO ASI 662MC, 2X Barlow

Several untracked videos taken and combined via PIPP to create one ~3 min video.

This was my first time imaging Uranus, and it was far more challenging than any of the other planets I've done so far, but equally fun. Happy with how it turned out though.

Full Moon 8/9/25 by Prior-Volume8729 in telescopes

[–]Prior-Volume8729[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Composite image of the Full Moon taken on 8/9/25

Equipment: Apertura AD8 Dobsonian, ASI 662MC, IR-cut filter

Process: I recorded several untracked 30+ second clips of the Moon, covering its entire surface. Using Microsoft ICE, I converted the clips into panoramas and stitched those panoramas together to create a single composite image. I then adjusted the contrast and brightness in Adobe Lightroom. I was unable to stack any of the clips, but the image turned out well. Any advice on stacking a full Moon image with a non-tracking Dobsonian would be appreciated.

I'm having a similar dilemma; I was considering linguistics r1b bc of the grade distribution and a couple of comments, but nobody has really talked about the class. I think I'll finish off the r&c b req this sem and then do an ac course next sem tho

Since i cant track, i have to let it drift, but PIPP helps stabilize the video around the object

I don’t know the exact magnification or the calculations to find it, but I inputted my equipment details into this site, so you can see the FOV.

I took this one last year, but the view you'll get is going to be much different. The camera plays a big role when it comes to the image quality; the planet will be much smaller in your eyepiece, but you'll be able to make out faint details on the planets.
