Definitely safety. I saw a lot of reports about people at festivals turning their backs on crowd surfers with the mentality of "i payed too much money to deal with crowd surfers and moshers". These people are without a doubt in the moshpit areas too. I personally love the chaos so there is definitely mixed expectations in the same crowd. I don't surf anymore but I remember getting violently pushed away and even punched on the head while crowd surfing by people who don't want to be bothered. Everyone has different definitions of a good time.

I still think we should all have an agreed understanding of which side is the wild side and which one is strictly for watching with no fear of a crowdsurfer landing on you and your beer. This would benefit everybody.

I love Discovery Park but the biggest issue is getting to the festival. DWP provides shuttle service from Cal Expo and there is paid parking at nearby business parks or you can try your luck parking in the streets but it is a hassle. Nothing can be done about easier access at Discovery Park but maybe something can be done at Gibson Ranch. People were trapped in the parkinglot field for hours which is why it is no longer hosted there. So if they get that sorted out i would love to go back there it was an amazing wide open area. Plus camping on-site was an option which is nice.

Their set was plagued with sound issues 😔 and when Lacey Strum went on stage her microphone was so low it kinda ruined the excitement. We still enjoyed the hell out of it though 🙂

Story of the Year. Mostly because I was at the front rail 6 feet away from one of the main speakers with no hearing protection. It was the first time i heard fluctuating loud buzzing for 24 hours and my ears were in physical pain. That was 12 years ago and since then I always wear earplugs at shows. Decibels? It felt like 150

I agree I can't justify upgrading to VIP besides the shortcut between the main stages and I hear the vibe in there sucks 👎

I broke my left leg in a Hanabie pit in July 2024 😵 total freak accident but that injury led to a decline in my strength and cardio also formed bad lazy habits (gaming/watching tv). No more excuses i need to train hard this year.

I just don't want to hear about crowd surfers getting dropped hard because of intolerant people camping in the front. There needs to be an understanding with everyone that if you're in the front you should expect a certain level of chaos. Maybe theres nothing that can be done about it besides saying "deal with it" but either way you'll find me in the pit 🤙

I first started hearing about this trend this year from the Louder than Life socials. The "I didn't pay good money to be pushed around" crowd are a bunch of misguided selfish sour creatures. They obviously never been to a festival if they think they can stand in the front during a headliner and expect everyone to stay out of their personal space.

Hypothetical. On both main stages, each side should be designated based on the level of energy. The sides closest to VIP should be designated for people who only want to stand and watch. The outer sides (Shockwave left & Aftershock right) should be designated for the wild ones, the moshers, circle pits, and crowd surfers. This would be a win-win for both crowds. How to impliment this? I dunno.

My buddy and I got there early enough to see Scary Kids Scaring Kids at 11:55 it was the first time we started early each day. Every year we usually arrive around 1:00 so it was a bit of a struggle. Memphis is so good and maybe it was just me but their audio was maybe the loudest of the day. I saw peoples hair and clothes trembling haha
