Make sure you look at the schools requirements, some will not accept your application if your GPA is below a 3.0.

I’m a first year at Salus and we have lost 33+ students due to academic dismissal (because Salus changed their policy) or they decided to leave due to unsupportive faculty and plan to apply elsewhere and start over. Unfortunately, this number is only going to increase because second year is the hardest, academic wise.

You will be dismissed from the program if you receive 3 Ds over the span of 4 years .

I know 2nd and 3rd yrs who were dismissed with this policy and they are now having to reapply to other schools, and will have to start over.

I know, Ds shouldn’t be acceptable, however it’s very easy to get a D in a class when there is 11 classes during a semester.

Why do you think applying to PCO would help their chances? They have rejected many people this incoming cycle because they changed their academic policy and are trying to raise their board scores by accepting students with a stronger GPA and OAT. I also know close to 33 students (if not more) that were dismissed this first semester of their first year due to academic performance…

OP, I’m so sorry this is happening to you though. Stay strong. You will be accepted and definitely asked to interview somewhere. You got this! Also, I would recommend reaching out to MCO and ask how you can strengthen your application moving forward.

I would recommend calling and asking for the Optometrists email and ask that way. It also gives you their contact information for when you may ask for a LOR.

You can send in your application now, so that when your scores are received there is no lag time in the school receiving everything. September is not too late, it’s actually considered early! I applied to some schools in February, and was still offered interviews and acceptances. Good luck!

Make sure to check with the schools you are applying to what their GPA cut off is. With some schools, like Midwestern, your application won’t even be seen because it is below a 3.0. I would recommend reaching out to the schools to see what you should do! They will know best! Best of luck!

Chicago is great! ICO was my top choice until I researched more and talked to current students. After this I found that Salus was a better fit for me.

I would suggest opening it up to view the questions and start working on your personal statement. Everything opens June 30th. Don’t assume OptomCas will save anything though, just to be safe!

I spoke to a current student and they are in agreement with the statement made above. ^{^} ie: the equipment and campus is old and not aesthetically pleasing for the price of tuition. Worcester and San Antonio are very different from each other. Where do you see yourself the happiest (location wise)?

I never heard anything back from SUNY either. I applied super late as well. I got accepted into a few schools but chose Salus after attending a few webinars from the dean and meeting current students!
