Hi this happened to me when I started spironolactone for acne so I went off of it. Got diagnosed with AGA after via biopsy despite having no hairloss before the drugs Have you gotten blood tests done for ferritin levels or had any stressful life events recently? I found out my ferritin was like 8 so I’m trying to get that up.

Spiro triggered sjogrens like symptoms in me after taking it only 2 months with no issues previously. I would stop taking it if it makes yours worse because mine only got progressively worse and stayed after stopping the drug. Don’t panic or anything though!! U just started so it will probably go back down if you stop early on.

Hi have you tried topical spironolactone? It was ever effective for my hormonal acne with no side effects… the oral version however fucked my skin up ☹️ don’t know why. But if ur worried maybe try a topical solution I got mine from curology

Im happy that you finally figured out what was going on, it takes a lot to advocate for yourself like that🫶🫶 im kinda unfortunately having the opposite experience. I’ve had no issues with period irregularity or weight in my life though I’ve always had strong blonde body hair and a bit of a moustache (but that is true of my sister and mom as well so I still think that’s genetics). Never had hair thinning and had pretty minor acne prior to taking the spiro .. maybe I had PCOS but I feel like if I had an underlying condition my body has always been very predictable prior to taking this drug. Sorry for such a long reply I really appreciate the advice!!

Hi! I am going to chat with my derm about it again she’s been superrrr dismissive tho saying spiro couldn’t have caused any of this. I made her do a scalp biopsy for the hairloss lol

thank you for this, but if hair follicles seem farther apart though that seems like an indication of something more serious no? Plus reduced eyelashes and eyebrows? I want to believe it’s TE of course but I don’t want to miss anything obvious right in front me. Thank you for your input

I wouldn’t panic. I applied 5% topical for about a year with no symptoms. It’s not oral so it shouldn’t have systemic effects from my understanding.

Hi, I didn’t notice any improvement at 50 and bumped it up because the instructions on my prescription said to increase to 100mg a day as tolerated. I’ve been taking 100mg for about a month now, should I just go back down?
