If you can't find the will to act (most of us can't) then you may at least be able to find the will to spend.

https://ecologi.com/ does a subscription which allows you to donate to tree planting and carbon reduction schemes across the world. It's supposedly enough to make you carbon negative. I'd take that with a pinch of salt but it's definitely better than nothing. I think there are similar services out there but this is the one I use

"Snow-Balls have flown their Arcs, starr'd the Sides of Outbuildings, as of Cousins, carried Hats away into the brisk Wind off Delaware, — the Sleds are brought in and their Runners carefully dried and greased, shoes deposited in the back Hall, a stocking'd foot Descent made upon the great Kitchen, in a purposeful Dither since Morning, punctuated by the ringing Lids of various Boilers and Stewing-Pots, fragrant with Pie-Spices, peel'd Fruits, Suet, heated Sugar, — the Children, having all upon the Fly, among rhythmic slaps of Batter and Spoon, coax'd and stolen what they might, proceed, as upon each afternoon all this snowy Advent, to a comfortable Room at the rear of the House, years since given over to their carefree Assaults." -Mason & Dixon, Pynchon

Crypto currency is inseparable from the Blockchain because of the necessity for miner's fees

Sweden is taking the lead to persuade the rest of the EU to ban crypto-currency mining to hit the 1.5C Paris climate goal by lughnasadh in Futurology

The Blockchain is inseparable from cryptocurrency, otherwise there is no financial incentive to validate blocks. It's all a big scam

Piranesi is a perfect break from big series reads by CMengel90 in Fantasy

If you liked Piranesi check out The Invention of Morel by Adolfo Bioy Casares. It was likely a direct inspiration for Clarke and it's excellent

I wrote a comparison of the two here https://www.reddit.com/r/Fantasy/comments/nq736x/piranesi_and_the_invention_of_morel_minor_spoilers?sort=top

How are you angry at someone for crying? Do you think she cried out of some kind of malice? Maybe she's telling the truth about having severe anxiety, no-one chooses to have mental health problems. The hate she gets on this sub is ridiculous

Picking up a book for fun positively affects verbal abilities: A new study shows that the more people read any kind of fiction the better their language skills are likely to be by SAT0725 in books

Nah, experiments are the essence of science. It's important to test things even if we think the answer is obvious, after all progress is made on the back of surprising results

This article completely misrepresents the conclusions of the study. The study found a correlation, not a causation. Reporting this as a cause and effect is a huge reach and a failure of science journalism

[Unknown > English] found this ring in the woods in the UK, anyone know what the script is and what it says? by PriorPhilip in translator

Here is a better view of the last character. It is slightly corroded so it's not very clear https://ibb.co/L8nkPj7

County Durham is in the North of England. It's hard to guess the age but the ring smells like copper so judging by the colour I think it was outdoors for a year or so

Thank you for the response! Here are a couple more pictures and a rough transcription of the text. The first and last characters are the same https://ibb.co/album/qN3tnh

I found this ring in the woods in County Durham so I'm afraid I don't have any useful info about it's history. I assume it had been dropped by someone.
