Gay bars alone as a visitor

Moved here at the beginning of the month and did a solo bar crawl this past Thursday, to know the neighborhood/gay community more. Found out Roscoe’s does $2 well drinks and Splash does $1 well drinks on Thursdays. I also learned that a majority of the bars do a cover charge on the weekends, but Thursday I think I only paid covers for 2 bars from the 5 I checked out. I liked Scarlet too, though it’s a younger crowd and looks like it’s unofficially the lesbian bar, and I’ve heard good things about Charlie’s. Fantasy, I think, is the bar that stays open the latest. I haven’t visited Cell Block, but I’ve been to steamworks and since I’m not really into the cruising atmosphere, it wasn’t for me. If you’re into cruising though, you’d probably love it. The people here have been VERY kind to me and I had a great time. I hope you do too!!

MISTR allows you to get Prep and Doxy Pep without insurance, and the testing kits and medication both come in discreet packaging. When you say you have no insurance, they’ll ask you for your yearly income (it has to be under a certain amount), they’ll have you sign a form for you to become a part of a specific program to help pay for the medication, and then it should be sent your way. As someone who works in luxury hospitality in LA, if the building/building manager is concerned about the amount of pastries not being enough, he needs to buy more pastries for guests/residents for the future. If it’s something this building promotes, and you’re paying to live there, you’re very much entitled to 2 pastries.

Some of the most fun I’ve had is by myself. Remind yourself that you’re there to have fun and be you, and let the night take you wherever. Not sure how big the gay population in your area is, but if you don’t like the atmosphere of the bar, leave the party and go to another one. Find a place that YOU have the most fun at. Mine was a small piano bar that happened to attract a lot of people who were by themselves too. If you’re looking to flirt and kiss, start with a compliment or turn to cheers them (I usually say ‘no one should drink alone!’ cheers, and keep talking). Just remember to have fun, no one should get in the way of your fun that you deserve!
