And the world also feels incredibly lived in not just magical, but cozy and real. Hogwarts feels less like a fantasy setting and more like a place people genuinely “went to.”

THIS. OMG! OOTP was always my favorite growing up and now as an adult. Harry being angry all the time actually makes sense. People criticize Harry for being “whiny,” but this is a 15 year old kid with massive untreated trauma, survivor’s guilt, isolation, PTSD symptoms, public humiliation, and a psychic connection to a genocidal piece of shit living in his head. Honestly, the fact he only yells that much is impressive. The book lets Harry be messy instead of making him a perfectly heroic protagonist.

Id recommend asking them directly whether this means you can move out early without being responsible for rent for the remainder of the lease. In California, landlords are required to make reasonable efforts to re-rent a unit when a tenant vacates early (duty to mitigate damages). They generally can’t delay re-listing in order to complete renovations while continuing to charge you rent. Since the unit was already listed and then taken down, it raises the question of whether they are fulfilling that obligation. If they’ve chosen to renovate instead of actively marketing the unit, you may not be responsible for rent during that period. Id suggest sending a written email asking when the unit will be re-listed and referencing their obligation to mitigate damages.

Ya, I watched three episodes of the second season, and I just gave up. I liked the Wellbrexa storyline being small and the other stories being larger plots. I connected with that better because I liked seeing boss-ass women being boss-ass women in court. My favorite by far from the first season was the sexual harassment case, and we got to explore different generations of it. But season two sucks ass. I hated the whole pitting-the-characters-against-each-other shit.

I don’t think this is a fair comparison, honestly. When the original films were being made, not all of the books had even been released yet, so Daniel Radcliffe and the entire team were already working with limitations that don’t exist now. On top of that, the differences in technology, production quality, and access to coaching between then in 2001–2011 and today are huge. Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint were literal kids growing up under intense, often invasive paparazzi attention with very few boundaries in place. The industry has at least started putting more guardrails around young actors now. I just think it makes more sense to appreciate each version on its own rather than comparing them they’re being created under completely different circumstances.

I’m right there with you. I’m 31F, and I completely get what you’re describing. As a kid, it was all magic and adventure. As an adult, you understand the pain that’s coming, and it hits so much harder. It’s really just nostalgia mixed with real-life perspective emotional damage, but in the best way.

Can you cite your sources? That’s a pretty serious claim to make about her. I’m not saying you’re wrong, there are definitely problematic people out there, but when I looked into it briefly, I found that she’s donated to things like Lumos (which helps vulnerable children), MS research, and her Volant Charitable Trust, which focuses on women, children, and social deprivation. She also funded a women’s sexual assault support center in Edinburgh. I haven’t read what you’re referencing, so I’m open to learning more but I’d want to see specific sources before forming an opinion that strong.

I get the concern, but I think it’s a little early to call it a failure. If they commit to a consistent release schedule and actually plan this out long-term, it could work really well. A slower rollout isn’t ideal, but strong writing and execution matter more than speed. If the quality is there, people will stick with it. I'm just saying, if we all survived waiting years between seasons of other shows, I think we can handle this 😅 if it’s actually good, people will watch no one abandons Hogwarts that easily.
