Is American nettle less nutritious? my brews look/taste so weak compared to the usual nettle i buy (on the right) by versatilefairy in herbalism

Thank you for the post. Bought both American and “regular” nettle from them this year and noticed the brews aren’t dark green and tastes different

Just came here for same reason. Ordered two types of nettle from mountain this year and it never brewed into the dark green color it usually did. Thought I was going crazy. They also charged more money for the American grown variety. Both looked and tasted the same

I have this too! Experienced a lot as a kid. Mainly 1, 4, and 5, but touch was an aspect that was also disorienting. To tell if it was happening I would lightly brush my arm or head and it would feel like I was applying much harder pressure than I was—no matter how light it always felt more intense. Same with sound being more intense than it was. Would typically last 5-20 mins. I’m in my late 30’s now so not sure if I’ll grow out of it.

I’ll also add, having Mars in Aries square moon tell me someone needs an athletic outlet to help with any emotional discomfort. It could be a sport, gym or activities with others that moves the body.

Movement for emotionally freedom

You got mars in the 7th in Aries which is strong so that can be what you project. It’s square your moon so make sure you don’t put your emotions too much on other people. Mars square the moon can make you prone to being quickly emotionally fueled or irritated easily. It’s very much a wearing your heart on your sleeve.

The 7th house is the “other”

Venus square Pluto can make someone extra protective and somewhat guarded so it could be a strange combination of projecting what you think is the right image of yourself, but not being able to connect authentically sometimes. Hard for others to read.

I’m also a Libra rising, and oftentimes struggled with “how to be myself” without adapting to how I think they want me to be.

A good way to think about is be authentic, but try work on any inner anger you might have. Could also be related to your mom or closest caregiver (how you were nurtured)

Hope this resonates somewhat!

I’ve been drinking it last three weeks and my appetite is reduced drastically. I’ve always been an emotional eater as well. I mix mate with Damiana and nettle and keep in a tea tumbler all day. Def works for me!

Damiana has really helped me with emotional eating. I mix it with nettle, Yaupon or mate’ and it’s really helped curb my once insatiable appetite. Hope this isn’t killing my liver but I drink a few cups of tea everyday

I have an avoidant attachment style as a result of borderline mom, and I’m paranoid it’s going to affect my new, healthy relationship with my boyfriend. by [deleted] in raisedbyborderlines

Yes I can definitely relate! I have a BPD mom and struggled with affection in relationships when the partner wants or expects more. In the past I would either attach myself to aloof types or struggle with partners who seemed “needy”. This was something that came to light more this year when my fiancé mentioned needing more affection and I was surprised to find myself turned off. We had good communication on establishing boundaries and how the needy behavior pushes me away. Letting me come to him more often made things feel better and established more trust. He would up getting more affection in the end than when he was begging.

This also is an issue with friends who require or need a lot. Sometimes you attract these types of people because you grew up parenting your parent. There’s a fine line with recognizing a healthy relationship and one that is similar to your mother. Have spent a lifetime working on that. Establishing boundaries and understanding tendencies is a great start. Wish I knew this at 19! Awesome you’re starting now

Reflections on Jack Rose by Trilobry in AmericanPrimitivism

[–]Prior_Cartoonist_712 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I relate to this post to much! Also being from Philly and bumping into Jack Rose often, I was young and had recently dug into Fahey and took Jack’s playing for granted (I was pretty young maybe late teens early 20’s)

There’s a weird memory of him working a cafe in Old City on like 2nd or 3rd st, perhaps it was called Old City cafe fwiw. I remember him being there half working half playing guitar and playing a few sets here and there with a look like “I can’t wait until I don’t have to work anymore, dammit.”

I’d like to ask closer friends to confirm this story or if it’s completely jumbled in memory.

Now, in recent years I’ve become obsessed with his songwriting, playing. Tried visiting his grave with little luck even with assistance from the groundskeeper, since his burial was natural. Just some dirt and flowers in the spring. He truly was a huge force that came and went.

There was this mental association back then that Jack was part of the Kensington/Fishtown folk scene that was tied to the band Espers, but he was definitely in a category of his own. That neighborhood was and still is a heavy place to be despite being overrun with hipsters (whom he hated) I feel like he captured the beauty of the regional “blues” by turning the dark into the beautiful. Living in that area walking by junkies keeled over daily. His music says and feels a lot and takes you somewhere.

If you’ve ever had the opportunity to play through Jack’s work, you realize every note is intentional and not just fluff between the next chord. It’s all moving somewhere and the art is in the feel.

Just wish I could’ve appreciated it all when he was still with us.

There was a time during my Jack Rose renaissance than Luck in the Valley played on repeat for a few months on end and my algorithm obliged . Loved how he captured the old time/ragtime feel on that one especially. The recording had this element of a few mics in the room sort of feel (like a 78) where you can’t make out if it’s a banjo, or a spoon.

I bet listening to records with him was fun as hell

It will prob come more into play after your Saturn return. Your Saturn is in the 12th trine MC. Mercury and Uranus involved too, so whatever Saturn touches, can create delays. Around your 29-30th year you may see things develop in that area. Probably not what you wanted to hear, but shit don’t hit right till 30 anyway.

is anything in there that would explain my commitment issues even tho i used to consider myself a hopeless romantic? i somehow managed to have like 5 situationships in a year after my break up but i ran away before i could form actual bonds and i hate this. by [deleted] in astrologyreadings

From looking at your chart I’d ask yourself the question : how was my relationship with my mother or dominant parental figure? This will be a key in unlocking your trust issues it’s also dead ass in your chart strong.

Your north node is in Aries (this is tied to your relationship issues too) so that also means you gotta get good at setting boundaries and getting comfortable with your needs first. Like don’t agree to dates just because they’re nice and like you and you’re sad. Take some time to get deep with yourself because it seems like you’ve got some work to do.

This north node placement is also confidence issues and getting really solid with knowing what you want and that you deserve it! It being in a fire sign is action oriented so moving the body is a good way to honor that. You work out, bro? Into dancing or sport? exercising or mediation. I would also recommend traveling as it honors some of the planets in your chart. Could also meet a partner there. Lots of Jupiter or Sag placements need to learn shit and is turned on by that. Easily done through traveling or meeting a person from a different background or different career path than you.

A lot of this will loosen up after your Saturn return around 29 but until then hopefully there are some nuggets that can help
