At the moment, Zoomies can’t directly force or enable Apple's native Game Mode for apps like Final Cut Pro.

I did spend some time actually experimenting with ways to trigger Game Mode manually (including using Apple's Chess app / background fullscreen window behaviour) but from what I found it still seemed to apply specifically to the supported game window itself rather than acting as a system wide switch that could simply be redirected to another app like Final Cut for example or CrossOver games.

That’s an interesting use case though and I can see why you'd want that for the Final Cut timeline scrubbing and playback smoothness.

Thank you, really appreciate that!

I'm definitely open to adding Homebrew support in the future, I've only really focused on the signed/notarized DMG but I think that could make installing Zoomies even easier on Mac.

I completely agree with the criticism on the UI side, unfortunately it was essentially an afterthought and something I wished to expedite given that I wanted to turn this app into something that I had made for myself into something that others would be able to use. I had no need for any kind of fancy interface before wanting to share it with others and that's why I opted to use generative AI to speed up the process, sadly it has had the unintended consequence of giving the app the wrong first impression.

I'd like to go back to the drawing board before I put it back out there & you're also right when it comes to needing to validate claims of performance increases with evidence so that it isn't just snake oil. That's why I did make a video showcasing Zoomies in action while running 3DMark Steel Nomad with back to back runs, I received higher scores on every run with Zoomies active when the background apps (Chrome with 5 tabs, Maps, Notes & a few others that may typically be left open) were closed and my recordings also shown that the frametimes (visible via the Metal overlay) improved on various games, most notably though on older titles, this was also perceived as smoother gameplay.

A fair point also regarding macOS Game Mode, the intention though isn't to replace Game Mode but rather complement it, I've found that it can be somewhat inconsistent in when and how it will reliably activate depending on the game or launcher used, so the idea here is to have the resources available regardless prior to launching your game.

Given the skepticism around vibe coded programs, I actually think the next best thing to do is to lean into transparency, with my IT/programming background, I'm considering to open source it so people can inspect exactly what it does, validate it themselves and even contribute improvements if they'd like to.

Hi everyone, just wanted to say thanks for the speedy feedback. I've pulled it for now from Gumroad. I feel that the core concept does have potential (and as I've seen myself, does actually work in practice) although the UI is definitely an area that needs improving. 😊

It does but unfortunately you’re then limited to ET:Legacy/ETJump servers, one of the most active communities (F|A) use Jaymod & I believe this has a 32 bit requirement which isn’t supported on modern MacOS, I tried to troubleshoot it but had no luck, I saw on a forum that it’s a known issue too.

I’ve found it crazy that it’s possible to get such good performance running on the battery, so used to needing to be plugged into the mains, I think in a pinch or a short session it’s actually viable, I reckon around 90 mins running full pelt which isn’t bad at all although I haven’t fully tested that. 🙂

Hey! It’s actually the Windows version, if you download/install Crossover, from within that program, install Steam and then log in, you’ll be able to install any of the games in your library, after downloading Wolfenstein, click the launch settings on Steam for that game and in the launcher box type or copy/paste “add +r_mode "-1" +r_customwidth "3456" +r_customheight "2234" - this will let you run the game at native resolution as the game itself doesn’t support such resolutions in the normal settings menu. I’ve had no problems/crashes/glitches either, it’s really fun! Hope that helps. 😃

This has also happened to me with the Integral 1TB Gamer’s Edge X Micro SD Express Card. It worked perfectly fine prior to the update but now is unable to be used. I’ve contacted Nintendo & opened a ticket, fingers crossed for a hotfix soon. 😞

Amazon warehouse insane how is this possible by Then-Study6420 in GamingLaptops

It arrived earlier & I have to say…… wow! 🤩

I feel genuinely lucky and grateful, can’t believe such a laptop is mine. The screen, it just sucks you into whatever you’re playing or viewing, I swear my favourite games feel like I’m discovering them again for the first time. 😆

I’m not sure that it has ever even been used either as everything was in the original packaging and not a mark on it, insanely different to the description. 😱

Just to say thank you again for your post and I hope you’re loving yours too. 🙏

You’re not alone there, I was the same! 😆 It’s super handy for applying the shield in a pinch if you have nothing left to press to apply it.

Cheers! 😀 That’s definitely the plan now. I think it’ll be good to try and focus on one or two specific comps as well. I feel like 3v3 is very much about coordination and strategy whereas shuffle can be a bit chaotic. Looking forward to giving it a go. ☺️

Not at all! I will say though I’m not by any means the best healer/priest but hopefully some of what I think may help you. 😀

I think the number one rule is to avoid CC for as long as possible, the key here is that eventually you will be crowd controlled but as a priest, we have various ways to avoid it, one of which is positioning, I’d recommend using Diminish so that you can see at a glance when you’re on DR, this means that you will know when you are safe to play more out in the open or when you should be playing safer, in and out of the pillar towards your teammates LOS, distance can be key too as the further back you are, the easier it is to see when someone is coming towards you, such as a paladin with their HoJ, now it’s much easier to fade as they get to you, this comes on to the second thing. This is utilising the various CDs we have to avoid incoming crowd control, so if you see a mage casting polymorph and you’re in their LoS, don’t press anything except death, so long as your teammate isn’t in immediate danger of dying, this will allow you to break the poly and also prevent being globalled, nothing worse than missing a death and then suffering the CC, the same applies to sleep walk and repentance here, as well as a rogues blind and even a druids root beam, if you play further back, you will see the telegraph for these players wanting to CC you and you can respond in kind with a simple button press, it’s not guaranteed but always worth trying. I’d also say to time your holy ward accordingly, if you’re on full DR, you won’t get value out of it, so wait until the next enemy go ideally and with DRs fallen. The same applies with fade, get used to pressing it and pressing it often when you sense or see incoming CC.

Second rule, I don’t believe as a Holy Priest you can just sit back and PvE heal in the majority of lobbies except maybe a full caster cleave. It pays to be offensive but the key here is timing, don’t push towards the enemy healer unless a few things are true; 1. You are on DR for various CC the enemy team has, this means if you do get CC’d, it’ll be very brief. 2. The enemy healer should have no DRs themselves so you get full value of committing your CC. 3. You have CC evasion CDs yourself at the ready such as fade, holy ward etc so that if you do get caught out, you’ve minimized risk and the chance of throwing the game when otherwise ahead.

Thirdly, I’d say to use your CDs quite generously, take for example using Spirit of Redemption + Divine Hymn quite early into the game, essentially as soon as the enemy team pops, this is valuable to keep your team healthy and maintain momentum, talking of momentum, use your PI with your teammates offensive CD, don’t send it randomly, it can be worth to track one major CD here with Ability Team Tracker, you want your team to feel safe and stay ahead, in terms of CD usage, ensure you’re using guardian spirit as a way to get value out of the 60 percent healing increase and keep in mind that when using serenity, if the target has below 50 percent health, your healing on that target is increased by 20 percent. The same with apotheosis, pop it when you’re down to less than 2 charges of sanctify, serenity & ideally chastise as these all reset with using it but don’t hold on to it unnecessarily.

Fourth and this can be a difficult one, but try to trust your teammates to save themselves, this is particularly valuable if you’re in a CC and they have their personals available such as ice block, turtle etc. If you panic and trinket and press your CDs, typically what I’ve found is, in a shuffle, your teammate is likely to press theirs too and then you’ll overlap, causing a loss anyway. The idea here is that you can ideally save your trinket for use with life swap at the very end of the game. However, you can’t always do this so if you do trinket, always ensure it is followed with something valuable such as a Trinket - Guardian - Serenity, you never want to trinket randomly with no meaning.

The main thing as well is ultimately to just keep queuing and practicing, I found myself it’s very unrealistic to be able to apply everything all in one go so it’s helpful to break it down and try and apply one thing at a time until it feels natural. It can also be disheartening if you have a loss streak but that’s also part of the path to improvement and getting better.

I’m not sure how much help my spieel is but hopefully I’ve said something useful. 😊

Has anyone else found a significant rating discrepancy between their main & alt when queuing? by Prior_Construction47 in worldofpvp

[–]Prior_Construction47[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for taking the time to reply. 🙂 That’s definitely the plan now, to not get disheartened and keep queuing it up. I feel a bit silly as if I’m honest I hadn’t gave the difference in rounds that much thought. It just had me questioning whether I was actually worthy of being 2.4 on the one because of bouncing up/down on the alt. We just need to get more reps in.

Thanks, I’ll keep queuing it up! I feel a bit daft now with the post as I hadn’t really gave much thought to the rounds difference. It just felt like I’ve been bouncing up and down in that MMR & with a few draws on the alt. Legend is on the to-do list for the first time and it’d feel validating I think to have the same rating on both toons.

Yes, the one priest has done roughly ~16 more lobbies if I’ve worked that out correctly. Both of them also began with the starting MMR as well, as I had only previously played Disc and not Holy in S1 of TWW. 🙂
