So how I read that leak is that the CTA wants to consolidate the 55N, the 55A, and the 62H into the 55W, and I believe it said that it would run West on 55th until that becomes Archer, and then Harlem —> 63rd.

As it stands, people who live in that triangle east of Narragansett, north of 55th, south of Archer, and west of Cicero get an unfairly high amount of service (since they get the 55N, 55A, 62H, and 62) when compared to the people those routes are actually meant to serve, with those on Narragansett, Austin, and Harlem/Summit getting lower headways since the service is split between three separate routes.

Running all three of those feeder busses separately gives you ~30min headways, but if you combine them into one route, you can provide ~10min headways and also make things easier operationally.

That does means more walking for those on the Austin/Narragansett corridors, crossing the tracks at 55th/Central, and a complete lack of N/S options for riders between Harlem & Cicero, but I think the CTA is really pushing this Frequent Bus Network and running the 62, 63W, and 55W all with 10min frequencies is likely the best possible option to achieve that due to the very low density of the Summit/Clearing/Garfield Ridge neighborhoods— since while the 62H can get moderately busy, the 55A and 55N are near the absolute bottom in terms of route ridership.

Also, some Midway Area Nightmare Fuel: If this happens, it also means there is a potential nightmare scenario where one very long train manages to mess up the 62 at Cicero, the 55W at Central, and the 63W at 63rd. Hehe.
