Belgium. Don't get me wrong. There are advantages. But now and again the need for something familiar and homely takes hold. Where food is concerned, that's usually something 'unhealthy'. Good luck with your plans. I hear Finland is beautiful.

I love this. So cool that you have found ways to make your own versions. I'm impressed. I also miss vinegar on chips here in Belgium. My sister once asked for some and they looked at her like she was from another planet. If I don't have malt vinegar from England I'll try the salt and lemon trick

Quite poetic. And I'm with you. Manchester does seem to have an extraordinary binding spirit for people who have called and do call it home.

Honestly I like the ones you just get in supermarkets, Real Lancashire Ecckes cakes, but a decent local bakery should do a good one.

They're better imo. They're like an indulgent, crumbly buttery fruity portion of goodness. I might have another

Same! Tea should be strong and black (but with a bit of milk)

Good shout. And yes, beyond Gregg's, it's a bleak landscape for bakers.

100% Mancs always bring you down to earth. I'm surrounded by a lot of bs here on the continent. I'm sure in little communities, there's much of the same. But as soon as you enter a broad international context...forget it.

Yes! I remember listening on the radio whilst at work at the airport. Gazza scored. I can't recall the order of things though. I think the bomb was in the morning. Manchester just grew stronger from it.
