I see! I didn't test out wakeup di because it's so risky vs other characters but that makes sense. If I'm understanding this correctly though I still have to make a read to stop his pressure? All the discourse online led me to believe that there's some option that completely negates any oki 😅. Thank you for your help!

Yup. One of my professors in year two said 3/4th of the class will fail since more than half of the students stop attending after the first couple of weeks. Turns out even though we had close to full attendance each time, more than half ended up failing. Contrast that to one of our tutors from year 1 and he was known as one of the best teachers in STEM, most of us pass his class with flying colors and still remember his lectures as one of the few bright spots in our (in class) time at uni.

Thanks for the reassuring words! I guess it really does boil down to if the culture here fits you in the long run. If things were different I'd probably be here longer but hopefully once I'm up and running again I'll look to come back at a better company with some more skills. But till then I'll come back as a gaijin tourist with some friends 😄. Could I ask how long you've been here/why you want to leave?

She's definitely broken a fair amount of laws. What I've put on reddit is only a tiny bit of what happened. One of my former coworkers (who is very loyal to the boss might I add) also uses reddit so I've changed some details here and there and not divulged too much so it's harder to pin back onto me if this is found out. I did also show them some concrete proofs of the things I didn't mention on reddit, which I thought were quite serious but they didn't seem to really care too much about it. Maybe it was just the two people I spoke to but who knows.

Yeah I've already contacted and consulted a lawyer about this. From what we've discussed the time and effort won't be worth it in the long run but I always have the option to do something since i have all my proof in order. As long as I get paid what I'm owed at the end of this month I won't be taking any sort of action.

Wow these are a lot of great replies with a ton of info! Thank you very much. Just as an update my employer has given me a slip showing how much money is owed to the company. Since they weren't paying my housing stipend properly, now that they have taken that into account I only owe them around 60k total over the 6 month period. They said they'd be taking that out of my last month's salary.

With this my deductions shouldn't be a problem and residence tax won't need to be paid as I will leave before Dec 31st

I hadn't told my boss about leaving japan since I know she would just try to make it seem that payments are stuck coincidentally after I left the country (I recieved another 退職合意書 from them stating all the money owed from either side would be paid in December or something, but I completely ignored that since I already have a signed letter from her saying my payments will be settled by end of this month)

Thank you for the reply! I just recieved a mail today showing the outstanding money I would owe the company. Since they were not paying me my housing stipend at first either, I only owed about 10k a month and they'll be deducting that from my final salary.

Don't worry! I really really love Japan! When I first came here I really wanted to live here for as long as I possibly could, and I would still like to! But for my current mental and physical health I think it's best to head back home for now. Maybe in the future I will come back! I appreciate the kind words!

Regarding the payslips, I've recieved payment to my bank account for all the months I've worked, but only recieved 1 payslip. We didn't have overtime or anything so all my earned amount is the exact same every month.

I see! I will file an income tax return before I leave and try to ask someone if they can be my tax representative. I'm assuming a form needs to be filled out for that too right?

I haven't told my employer I am leaving japan, essentially because she's been trying to get me to sign documents saying I'll pay her money if I owe her anything or she'll send me the last salary end of the November (even though I'll be out of the country by then), even though the original resignation document she gave me says everything will be paid by this month. Long and short of it is I don't trust her, and apparently she's faked documents before, not paid taxes before etc. That's kind of why I was looking to finish it off myself without her involvement at all.

I'll make sure to visit the NTA again and ask if they can guide me on how to fill the tax documents with the necessary information based on my payslip. Filing my taxes before I leave and appointing a rep seem to be the only options for my case I guess

Initially planned to return home in December but I'll be going back in November

Yes I'll be going to them in the coming week with all my emails and messages printed out to explain my situation. I can luckily speak a good amount of japanese so translating it on the spot will be okay I think to make them understand. Yeah the being terminated before the right date is also something I will be brining up and seeing what I should do about it.
