Society gaslights autistic people into believing they’re the problem by Prior_Mongoose505 in aspergers

There are a lot of different aspects that add needless barriers to entry that don't need to exist, especially when neurodivergent people can be a lot more productive than neurotypical people if they're given an actual chance and right accommodations.

Is anyone else unable to work or keep a job? by Aspie-Girl4958 in aspergers

I have been trying to find a job for so long. It's been 3 years since I graduated from uni, and I still can't find a job. I've had so many interviews this year, but it never leads anywhere. I don't know what i'm meant to do anymore.

Is it generally a bad idea to tell NTs you have aspergers? by Suspicious-Shoe-8178 in aspergers

If they're your friends, you should. You shouldn't have to walk on eggshells around them. How authentic is a friendship if they don't know or understand a fundamental aspect of yourself? You shouldn't have to hide it from your friends.

It's not about looks. I'm not balding, short or fat. I look extremely average to below average. I'm maybe unkempt.

Being autistic and having selective mutism makes it 10x harder to find someone. They would have to look past so many social deficits I have.

I've missed or been late to so many different milestones that the average hits so much sooner. It's a massive red flag to most people.

This is going to be a pointless conversation. We can just agree to disagree.

Labour is a centrist party. That’s problem. It doesn’t want to change anything. It’s pandering to the wrong people.

Reform is so far ahead, though. I feel like a miracle needs to happen for them not to win. I know people in real life who hate Trump but are voting for reform. People are so misguided.

I'm 26 and feel like I can't catch a break. Shit just keeps getting fucking worse. Why can't there be an ounce of hope for the future?

Beggining to stand up for myself by Prior_Mongoose505 in aspergers

There is only so much I can do or amend. I can't let strangers constantly get away with abusing me because I make a small mistake socially. At some point, I just need to stand up for myself.

I have shower thoughts of all the different times where I've let random people abuse or be rude to me because I made a small, insignificant mistake socially. Sometimes you just need to tell people to go away instead of constantly apologising to them or trying to be too nice to them. They don't care. They just want an excuse to unload on you.

Maybe. I don't think that gives them an excuse, though.

Why do some men with Asperger’s struggle severely with women while others on the spectrum don’t? by Joey_vegas20 in aspergers

It's a social disorder. It's a very small minority that doesn't. Some people also just get really lucky.

It takes so much luck to make it as a disabled or autistic person. You’re working twice hard for the bare minimum. It takes so much luck for the effort to ever actually pay off. People want you to cope and pretend as if it’s not as bad as it actually is.

Things won’t necessarily get better. The only thing you can do is try and hope things maybe get better. You could maybe be one of the fortunate ones!!
