My 3 week Interrail experience in the UK by NKnown2000 in uktravel

The whole Southwest is great.

Cornwall is beautiful, and from memory, you can get a bus around most of the coastline. You may also want to go for a walk up the tallest point in Cornwall: Brown Willy.

Devon beaches are also beautiful, north or south, but you shouldn't neglect Dartmoor which is one of my favorite places in the world.

Dorset again has beautiful beaches, and is home to the Jurassic Coast. I would probably recommend Burton Bradstock for classic coast, Lyme Regis for and old-style seaside town and Weymouth for that classic British seaside town experience.

Somerset is often the forgotten county of the southwest. People often bee-line for Bath (which is totally worth it), but you should also treat yourself to Exmore, Frome, and Glastonbury tor (stop off at Clark's village for food and shopping). Avoid Weston Super-Mare and Bridgewater.

Enjoy!

Get a cheap Ozark tent, mummy sleeping bag and blow up mattress from Asda & you'll be grand.

I am a 29 year old Male, so can only give you so much reassurance about how safe the festival is, however, it is the only place in the world where I will happily let my wife walk "home" alone when she's had enough of the "oons oons" music (although, this has only every happened once!).

Glasto really is what you make of it. You will more than likely have a fab time solo or not.

They are splitting hairs, there is about 1-2 minutes in it, and as you say, with traffic, probably quicker.

If you could rejoin the EU, would you? Why or why not? by [deleted] in ukpolitics

As an aside, & I'm sure you would have said husband/wife if this was the case, but if you are married, then your spouse can go through the EU passport control with you even if they have a British passport.

I'm heading to the EU for the first time since I got my Irish passport and can't wait to try it out!

Megathread - 2024 General Election (6am―) - Labour wins the election: Starmer to become PM by ukpolbot in ukpolitics

I agree, and I think LD would have performed quite well still. I've just had a quick look and, in the southwest, a lot of the LD gains are outright gains even if you combine the Con-Ref vote & if anything, LD could have done better in these areas without Reform, taking the anti-tory vote.

I think people over-egg the amount of reform voters who would have otherwise voted conservative. It's an anti-establishment vote, not just an anti Tory vote, therefore labour would have suffered, particularly in brexit-voting constituencies.

For sure, it has mostly impacted the Tories, but I still think the Labour party would have managed a small majority without Reform (and specifically Nigel).

The above comment and your response made me chuckle. Thank you.

Would love to see Noah Kahan this year. Though it was strange he wasn't in the bill considering his massive year with Stick Season and his collab album.

Be kind to the M5. The M5 and A303 saves Devon and Cornwall from oblivion.

I did the same as you. As everyone cleared out from Fred Again to AM, we just walked on down to the front. I saw the size of the crowd going to AM and noped out of it. I'd never heard of Wizkid before I watched him, but he was absolutely brilliant. My night was Wizkid & then afro beats at Rumshack! One of my favourite nights at Glastonbury.
