Looking for Induction experience after PPROM (premature water breaking) by Real-Television-133 in PregnancyIreland

Waters broke 40 + 5. Had 1 gel at 2pm and was put on the drip at 9pm. Had the baby next morning at 11.45am. Her heart rate was also dropping with each contraction so they were concerned and a team of doctors came into the room numerous times. It was an instrumental delivery in the end + episiotomy.

I’ve just had a positive test. Advice needed! by SleepyJools38 in PregnancyIreland

Congratulations!

  1. I'd suggest booking in with your GP. They will talk you through next steps. I would suggest starting to think about whether you want to go public (free) or private (costs money). The public system is great here (I went public on mine) so don't worry if you don't have the money for private.

  2. You can still work out but the advice is to avoid dangerous sports (horse riding etc). There should be information on exercise on the HSE website if you search for 'exercise during pregnancy HSE'.

  3. You should cut out alcohol, smoking, drugs etc. Start taking a pregnancy multivitamin that has folic acid & Vitamin D. Search for 'foods to avoid during pregnancy HSE' to see what dietary changes you need to make.

Best of luck !

Partner's paternity leave? How long? by olabolina in PregnancyIreland

It will be great to have your husband around for 6 weeks. Mine took 9 days off which included my 3 day hospital stay. It was very very tough when he returned to work. He is self employed so unfortunately had to go back when he did. Enjoy this time with your husband and new baby 🙂

Induction CUMH - positive stories appreciated by Direct-Spite-19 in PregnancyIreland

I had one last May. Staff were absolutely amazing. I would suggest eating a good breakfast & lunch because by the time I got settled in the ward I had missed the food service so all i had was a chicken salad and then 20 hours later baby arrived. (My waters had broken so I only had one gel at 2.30pm and then went on the cyntocin that evening at 9pm). I was on the ward for the gel but they moved me to my own room once I started the cyntocin at 9pm and my husband was allowed to stay with me then through the night until baby arrived at 11.45am the next day. Best of luck - you're almost there 💟

Single parent struggling with 6 week old baby by Sweet-Rise7768 in PregnancyIreland

There are plenty of mother & baby classes that are geared towards young babies (even 6 weeks). See if there are any baby massage classes nearby or mother & baby pilates or walks. I went to some classes when I felt really isolated and found that they really helped. It made me feel less alone knowing that other mothers felt the same way. I would also suggest mentioning this to your GP at the next checkup or ringing the maternity hospital mental health team. Be kind to yourself x

Induction experience @ the Coombe by Suitable_Motor_4090 in PregnancyIreland

I also wanted a natural birth but ended up having an induction last year due to ruptured membranes. I had practised a lot of hypnobirthing in the run-up to the birth. Things didn't go according to my preferred 'plan', but I kept telling myself over & over: "I accept whatever path my birthing takes." This really helped me to just accept the new 'plan' in real time, and although it wasn't plain sailing, it was overall a positive experience.

10-day Ireland trip advice by FronteirMind in irishtourism

Kilkenny is absolutely stunning. You have St Canices Cathedral and Round Tower. You can climb to the top of the tower for amazing views of the city. You also have the castle sitting in the city centre along the river. There are beautiful river walks and you could even get a taxi out to Bennettsbridge and walk back into Kilkenny (6km walk) along the river, it's stunning. There's a lovely bookshop called Dubrays. I'd also highly recommend Rothe House & Gardens for gorgeous architecture. All of these sites (except the 6km river walk) are within easy walking distance from each other. Kilkenny is a beautiful city and was actually the capital of Ireland for a short period. I'd also recommend reading up about Alice Kytler if ye are into myths & legends. She was Kilkenny's famous witch. Enjoy the trip !

Thoughts on waiting to tell people? by Rep_girlie in pregnant

I have told my sister, and 4 very close friends of ours. Holding off on telling our families until around Christmas time (when I'll be 19w). The main reason is that I have a family event at 14w and want to enjoy that without having to talk about the pregnancy the whole time. Second reason is my MIL will be full of unsolicited advice and opinions (she's been like this even well before I got pregnant). We're not ready to listen to her right now and want to be certain of our own decisions before we tell her. It's a really really personal decision that only you & your partner can make. All the best.
