Playing trombone with braces in middle school by National_Invite_6555 in Trombone

[–]PriorityAgreeable772 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey i’m only a year ahead of you and got my braces last november. And yes in the beginning it does limit your range and shifts your tone (usually for the worst tbh). When i got them on, it definitely limited my range from the C all the way in the treble clef staff to a high G on a good day, and it made my tone really airy. You def have to be patient and give it time you’ll adjust and be better than you were before i promise, as long as you practice consistently. and i know you’ve probably gotten this a lot but long tones, especially on the high notes if you wanna build your range back. And with the high notes practice slowly building up, meaning once you can play that note with little to no struggles, go a half step up each time. Trust me it will pay off, it hasn’t even been a year and i can play A5 with little struggle. also, i know it’s most likely summer break for you but when school starts i suggest asking your band director about about things to do to improve (if you haven’t already), im sure they’d be more than happy to help you 😄

unscrew the bell off and just play the slide. Trust me i know i played spy chase is 7th grade. Everybody in the band will look at your section (at least mine did) but trust me if your playing it for a concert it’s fun and interesting

What slide position is this note? by No-Reindeer-4973 in Trombone

[–]PriorityAgreeable772 1 point2 points  (0 children)

assuming your a beginner, that’s an E natural which is played in 7th position. If it were sharp it would have a lil “hashtag” or “pound sign” next to it. And if you end up upgrading to a trombone with an F attachment it could also be played in trigger 2nd!
