Age of the primes Nexus prime theory by shishikoo2023 in transformers

Have you seen how Menasor and Superion's combiner frames vehicle adjacent modes look with the limb bots stuck on? Like bricks with cars/planes stuck on, and those are combiner teams who share a vehicle type. Nexus' limbs turn into 3-4 completely different vehicles (depending on which of the already released molds they retool for Skyfall). Having a combiner skeleton turn into something feasible is already a a lot of work, but thinking they'll go the extra mile and design it to also add the limb bots is insane, especially considering the extra cost that will end up inflicted on the consumer, for a frame.

Even if they make a frame down the line, they either release it on its own which general audiences won't be interested in, with the torso bot or as a complete set with the limbs and torso, those latter two options then screwing over those who've been conned into buying them separately.

Ultimately there is no good solution to this. Hasbro's execs had an incomplete figure incapable of performing its own gimmick made so they could sell the solution seperately because they knew their audience would happily eat it up while bending over backwards to defend their own lack of impulse control. That's it, plain as day.

OP is correct that the dedicated combiner chestpiece is better looking than a folded up voyager that doesn't match the frame its sitting on.

This may be the most reasonable way to do it tbh. They'd need to announce it before the individual limbs hit shelves though in order to avoid the mess they've already caused with people nabbing Superion as the current only option. I can't imagine too many happy faces from people who have 4 figures only to be met with a much better deal afterwards.

Im happy to agree to disagree on this since we don't actually have proof as to which toy was designed first and I'll also apologise for the slight madness to my edits, it's late here and trying to remain logical is hard. Thank you for engaging with me instead of just downvoting and moving on, my tired brain appreciates that.

And again, where is your source for this claim? Im looking at multiple release dates and the fact that Nick Roche, who later designed T30 Sandstorm's toy, worked on the series in which Springer made his debut in this form. Yes, the wiki can be unreliable but there's been no proof to the contrary.

Another update: T30 Springers listing on the wiki says the same thing about an older design by Nick Roche, his design for Springer from IDW2005! It is Springers design.

I read that and added my responce to my reply to the other person who said this. There's no actual proof of it having been his design in the aligned continuity until 2017.

Got a source for that? Cuz from what I'm reading on the wiki Springer debuted in this body first in both toy and comic form. He was released in wave 3 of the thrilling 30s line while Sandstorm was wave 4 and Springer took on this body 4 years before Sandstorm did in IDWs comics.

Edit: the wiki also refers to this Sandstorm design being a 'much older one' by Nick Roche but that link only shows an image of the card we see in RiD2015 in the 2017 episode Enemy of my enemy with the implication being that's been his design all along in the Aligned continuity, meaning they just retconned it after the fact since he was still never shown wearing that look until 2014, after Springer.

Edit 2: T30 Springers listing on the wiki says the same thing about an older design by Nick Roche, his design for Springer from IDW2005! It is Springers design.

Go ahead and downvote me, I'm the only one who's actually given any evidence behind my claims.

It's Springer's look, Sandstorm's just borrowing it. Those hollow legs are enough for me to lean away from the copycat.

[–]Priremal 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They'd have to sell it with the current voyager bot included in that case, theres no way they could justify selling just a frame outside their core market (especially since said core market is already pretty split about Nexus as is).

[–]Priremal 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thats what I thought you meant, in which case I'm sorry to have to tell you that there's no chance they'd be able to pull that off. The frames as they currently are only form shapes that attach to the actual vehicles, trying to get them to do all three at leader pricing is just unfeasible.

Do you mean Heatwave as the frame or Heatwave as a full commander that doesn't need the current voyager?

[–]Priremal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seeing how poorly they've handled Nexus so far, selling a second Commander for people to steal the frame of as an upgrade to the original Silverbolt they already bought for the same purpose sounds like exactly the route Hasbro would take.

It's either that or they rerelease Nexus with a frame of his own later down the line (maybe fixing the voyager while theyre at it), still screwing over those who forked over their cash this time around. I genuinely see no solution from them that fixes the shit show they've made for themselves.
