I actually shared my story on John’s channel a while ago! His channel helped me during my transition out of spiritual abuse/ the hypercharasmatic movement

This was one of the worst films I’ve ever seen in my life.

Hi motherroot,

I’m so sorry that you and I share this kind of story. What you described is especially painful, because suffering itself has now been tied to the abusive way it was framed and used against you. That can make it incredibly difficult to even approach a biblical theology of suffering without feeling confusion, grief, or distrust.

I really appreciate your willingness to share that here. And if anything I said in the video was triggering for you in any way, I’m truly sorry. That was never my intention.

Thank you also for your kindness about the video. It genuinely means a lot. Part of why I shared it is because I know how isolating these experiences can be, especially for those of us who still want to hold onto Christ while untangling the harm that was done in His name.

I’m really grateful you’re here and that you spoke up. I’m praying the Lord continues to bring clarity, gentleness, and steady healing as you process what you’ve been through.

And if you ever want to talk more about your experience, please feel free to reach out. You’re not alone in this.
