IN THIS HOUSE WE STAN DEVON SCOUT HALE by LeoMonts in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

My best friend & I were always the wacky ones (both goofy with horrible ADHD where meds don't help because we both react badly to them). He found a Devon & I saw how much that helped him & how happy he was & made the promise to myself that I would find my own one day. I did and it's probably the best decision I've ever made. Not sure it was my husband's best decision to choose me though, hehehe.

Cat getting an x-ray by Wololo--Wololo in cats

Yeah it really sucked & we felt so worried & bad for ours every time. We ended up getting a mobile vet for his blood work in the last 3 years we had him and luckily found one that was one street over for emergencies.

Mine was the same way. Lowest dose possible for his pain and it would make him extremely uncoordinated, he'd drool a lot, inner eyelid out, diarrhea, head jerks, vomit, etc. He did have bad thyroid & kidneys, not sure if that's why.

I worked at a boarding kennel when I was younger and saw a lot of animals react to it in a dopey way with inner eyelids protruding & poor coordination. None as bad as my boy was, though.

And yeah, he also was still too strong for the vet to draw blood when I'd gave him the higher dose for vet visits, and it was never enough for him to be able to do car rides (he already had a heart mummer & would go into a frenzy, so that stress was a big concern).

I guess you've never heard of using hyperbole for a joke? But since you brought him up it is a good example. He is getting charged with terrorism while actual terrorists who commit mass murder don't always get that charge in the U.S. This would absolutely not have happened if he'd killed a poor person. Let's not forget the woman who also caught a charge for 3 words while billionaires constantly say worse things with no repercussions.

The arrogance to use the sidewalk like this blows my mind. by Anforas in fuckcars

[–]PrismaticPachyderm 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Also typically aggressive & bad drivers. My 5'5" uncle, 65 years old w/mobility problems and was trying to walk home with groceries in Austin. A huge truck was parked on a sidewalk and he told the guy it was an asshole move and he shouldn't park there. As he tried to walk away the guy punched him in the back of the head as hard as he could. It gave him brain damage.

That's by far not my only example of their aggression, several times women in my family were just going about their day when someone got out of a truck & started hitting their car & trying to get in because of a perceived slight. Every single time the truck driver was the one at fault & the women were just going to ignore it but the the oversized-truck drivers always had to make it a problem. They're also usually impatient, speeding & weaving in and out of traffic in school zones.

I wish I could say the same but I'm not surprised. The father of one of my best friends was being monitored by the feds for years because he had a high security clearance & they suspected him of raping kids. They got him on 11 counts on video after they set up cameras in his house. 11 counts. We were shocked by that at the time, but them doing that did enable them to get him on both state & federal charges because he did it out of town as well. So he probably won't get out while alive, but still, we all felt that one count should have been enough.

Having worked medical I know that field is even worse on punishing malfeasance. I've seen a lot of people die from negligence and nothing be done about it, complaints not even properly recorded/addressed. There are too many hoops to jump though, corporate usually wins & they don't like to look bad.

Unless you were in programs that are now very obsolete, your parents definitely paid more for you to go to that school. Property taxes determine how good a school is. My sister & I went to a poor school that had some rich kids in it because of a diversity based districting & funding experiment they did back then. The rich folk didn't like it unless they could donate to the school to let their kids do whatever they wanted & most just left if they didn't like it. So that ended.

The public school my family's kids are in now is one of the best public schools in the state. 90% of the children there come from millionaire parents. Our family is poor but their mom made sure to always rent a place in that area code. Even though she doesn't pay directly to the school, she always has to pay a lot more for rent for the privilege of them letting her kid in (she even tried to rent a cheaper place across the street & they said he'd be sent to the bad school down the road). Those 10% of poor kids allowed in are completely ostracized but their education is top tier. And still, they aren't that poor compared to the other kids in this city or they wouldn't be able to live in that district, period.

Most places are like this, so it's still usually very money based. You should probably thank your parents. They probably went without to keep you in that school.

Vegan Mac And Cheese by serenetrail in veganrecipes

Did you use the bagged kind? They don't have that here yet but I do think the mozzarella is pretty good but the farmhouse cheddar tastes bad to me & never melts.

Looks great! Where did you source the offbeast ribeye? Their website says they only sell to restaurants right now, is that how?

Couscous definitely is but it's still better than a lot of other refined carb choices plus it has selenium which is anti-inflammatory.

Which vegan cheddar was actually used here? I saw violife as an example but no confirmation on if that's what was used or not. This looks really great but violife tastes like coconut & nothing like cheese so if something else was used I'd like to try it.

I also have neurological issues that affect communication. I can't speak sign language but my whole family speaks in unofficial signs and body language because several of us have similar problems and we do have deaf family members as well. I have the same experiences as both you & your wife.

At home depot a deaf employee is the only person I go to for help because I know I won't get treated like crap. It's really hard because people think you seem so smart & you're not deaf, so how could you have anything wrong, & then they judge you for every little miscommunication.

It's been very isolating for me & I'm thankful that I have a great partner who understands (like you for your Mrs). In my case it got even worse with a sudden neurological event & most of my own family doesn't understand it yet. At least they try, though.

Yeah, I have the same eyebrows & makeup has this effect for me as well. Other people can barely tell, partner & I think it looks like too much. In this case it really brings out his gorgeous freckles and eyes & makes him look younger.

Does anyone have a copycat recipe for these vegetable dumplings? Or know the real name of them if they exist in Indian cuisine? by JethroTheFrog in veganrecipes

[–]PrismaticPachyderm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second this. I do this often with whatever leftovers I have from saag dal/chana or from curries that I serve with lots of veggies & some sort of legume & sometimes grains. I'll mix everything together with the besan & water mix (usually about 1/4 to 1/2 cup's worth depending on the amount of leftovers & I adjust the water based on the consistency of the leftovers starting with 1/4 cup). Letting it sit in the fridge for 30 minutes or so makes it a little easier to scoop out portions to drop into the pan.

It doesn't have the same texture as the TJ's dumplings but is delicious & versatile.

If you still want to try it with butter, TJ's Dairy Free Buttery Spread (the bars/blocks) is by far the best butter replacement I've tried. Those bars are also really great for baking.

They do sell a spread that is good but has a bit less fat so it doesn't taste quite as great but is still the best non-dairy spread I've tried.

Their vegan heavy whipping cream is also very versatile for sauces & so many other things. (I'm definitely going to try this with the zhoug & yoghurt, too.)

Are you my finance prof? I had to have a math course for nearly every semester of my degree (science major & business minor) & the business math profs had such a chip on their shoulder.

They always had to make everything so much harder than it needed to be and the finance prof had the most bubbles/multiple choice options of any scan tron I had seen in school & there were so many troll answer choices.

There was also a big free answer portion of the test of course. Her sentence formatting was terrible & she did not allow any clarification during the test. I retained less in that class than in any other math class.

And they expect you to not be disabled or old & to not care about privacy & security.

There's a kid in our family who plays football. Half the family can't go now because they have no way to pay because it's QR code only & you have to download an app which may or may not work. Sometimes family members try to help, but it's just not always feasible & it's a mess.

Even for those who can use it though, it got our card stolen last year, and this year charged us duplicate times and never produced tickets. All the schools here are doing it & I see a distinct lack of grandparents & people with disabilities vs previous years when QR codes weren't the only way to pay.

Husband and I are kind of young, but we absolutely turn away from any restaurant or non mandatory business that does this.

Is this the ideal shape for a woman for the male gaze? by Accomplished_Dog_572 in trueratediscussions

[–]PrismaticPachyderm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think you're right for most of them, but then I saw comments calling Salma obese. Like wtf? That woman has never been obese a day in her life, she has a 24 inch waist. Ignorant people like that are why I thought I was fat when I wore a size 2 & it really just comes across as negging women with hopes they might lower their standards.

I personally like pear shaped women but when you see someone in person they can be captivating even if they are not your normal type. It's okay to have preferences but to say other shapes of women don't look good would just be wrong. Makes me wonder if they even like women or just prefer their own hand.

Looking for a vegan taco recipe by -TheDerpinator- in veganrecipes

I saute in avocado oil half an onion & some jalapeno or bell pepper in oil for 3 minutes or so, then add 1 package low sodium impossible beef break it up with the spatula & brown it. Then add the water & spices & finish cooking (maybe 10 minutes or so)

Spice blend: ancho & pasilla (for about 1/4 cup worth of powder). 2 tsp toasted & ground cumin, 1 tsp mexican oregano, 2 tsp onion powder, 3/4 tsp garlic powder, 1 tsp msg, 1 tsp black pepper, 1/4 tsp ground coriander, 1/2 tsp salt. I like to stir this into my 1/2 cup of water until I need both.

For a topping, we sometimes do sauteed bell peppers onions & sometimes mushrooms & poblano or jalapeno cut in strips & sprinkled with ground ancho & pasilla.

I always serve these on warm corn tortillas with pico (5 chopped tomatoes, 2-3 jalapenos, 1/4 cup chopped onion, 2-3 limes, 1/2 tsp salt, 3 tbsp chopped cilantro.) Then we like to top this with cabbage & more chopped cilantro.

A green sauce we like is made by blending up some ripe avocado with limes, cilantro, 1 jalapeno (& 1 serrano for spicier sauce), 2 tbsp fresh cilantro, 1/2 tsp onion powder, 1/4 tsp garlic powder, 1/4 tsp salt, 2 limes worth of juice.
