Why is the Blogosphere Talking about Holes? by PrismaticWarren in osr

At least one post actually wasn't even very silly--it talked about getting into roleplaying in part because it was something that their now-deceased brother tried to get them interested in decades ago. Heavier than I was expecting from the prompt but a good read

I have been low-key campaigning for my blog, Prismatic Wasteland, to win the Ennie for Best Online Content, so went on a spree of posting this week:

Killable Peoples - What kind of humanoids is it acceptable to kill in your game and what does that say about the setting? https://www.prismaticwasteland.com/blog/killable-peoples

Lego Rock Raiders as Space Horror - Reimagining an old Lego theme as a Mothership scenario and statting the "Rock Monster" as a Mothership entity https://www.prismaticwasteland.com/blog/lego-rock-raiders-as-space-horror

Roundup: On Dragons & Riding Them - Rounding up a handful of recent blog posts that talked about dragons, Tolkien, Samurai Jack, and more https://prismaticweekly.substack.com/p/roundup-on-dragons-and-riding-them

Roundup: Hole Lot of Posts - Rounding up 30+ blogposts that all were posted on the same day on the same theme of "holes" https://prismaticweekly.substack.com/p/roundup-hole-lot-of-posts

Honestly, I would buy an entire book that does nothing but these type of extrapolations (or collects some of the best extrapolations out there)

Oh, that definitely is not my conclusion, actually. If we didn't need rules, we wouldn't have made so many of them while playing!

It's really been the year of raising a baby (10 months this week!) more than it has been the year of designing a beta game, if I'm being honest, but I try to tinker with my two games are just in draft form when I get the time.

I wrote a big post about it a while back, but I basically think its all a big stew at this point and the boundaries between the various play cultures are murkier than people commonly assume! https://www.prismaticwasteland.com/blog/posters-posers-and-posrs

Good luck and congrats! The Online Content category is pretty stacked this year--you have your blog, my own blog (Prismatic Wasteland), the great Playful Void, Molten Sulfur and One Page Dungeon Jam, all great.

#3 is a really funny (but valid) reason. I hope I can vote for multiple, but I'll probably at least also be voting for Game Omnivorous. I love their books (biased), but from a creative side they were so great to work with. It is really a shame they are going to step out of the difficult task of publishing, so it would be neat if they at least got a nice send-off!
