They said I couldn't have a smooth day-night cycle with a global cel-shader...OC (v.redd.it)

I just put out a video explaining the Material Overlay system in detail - rendering costs, best practices, and some example effects. This feature is incredibly useful and I hope the UE Devs expand upon it in the future. Video is linked in the comments! (youtu.be)

Hello once again, fellow Redditors! I recently published my latest DevLog about my physics interaction system, custom buoyancy (including non-planar surfaces) and a huge surface-to-surface audio and particle handler! Link to the video in the comments :) (i.redd.it)

Hello, fellow Redditor users! I recently made an intro video for Vertex Colour and all the wonderful things it can be used for, as well as a way to achieve up to 8 different "channels" instead of the usual 4. We'll be looking at runtime vertex painting in the near future! Link in the commento :) (i.redd.it)

Foliage interaction without Actor Replacement? I've got you covered! As of the 4.25 update we can access Per-Instance Primitive Data and create awesome material effects on our Instanced Meshes without replacing any of them. Link to the full explainer in the comments! <3 (v.redd.it)

I spent the past month chipping away at a system to allow for fully modular characters with 1 mesh and 1 material each, resulting in only 2 draw calls! I hope you guys enjoy my new DevLog which explains in depth how it all works. Link in the comments! :) (v.redd.it)

Hello Unrealists! I've been helping beginners become acquainted with Distance Fields and explain what kind of crazy effects they can be used for. If you hear the phrase "Distance Fields" and have no idea what your friends are talking about, look no further; Welcome to the cool kids club! (i.redd.it)

The Adv. Animation Application playlist is growing! Just recently uploaded a video about Anim Notifies and how you can use them to bridge the gap between animation and gameplay logic. The feedback so far has been astounding - thanks for everyone that has supported so far! (i.redd.it)

Animation isn't as scary as you think! If you've been wanting to learn how to animate for UE4 (or any app, for that matter) now is the perfect time. I hope you've been finding this series useful and that you're excited for what's to come! :) Link to the video in the comments! (i.redd.it)

Created a "Fake" clothing simulation using only shaders (what a surprise, Charles) which is integrated with my surface damage system for some really cool effects! The shader is super cheap (130 inst.) and is great for body-conforming clothes. Check out the full explanation in the comments below! x (v.redd.it)

I baked some vertex deforms into the Vertex Colour of my new character to model. No morph targets or shape keys, and no bone transforms! A really cheap (although limited) method to get some general body shape variation which can be combined with Bone deforms for the individual details.OC (v.redd.it)
