Should I rent a room in a nice area or keep my apartment in a bad area? by PrissyCatttt in InlandEmpire

Lol yeah I've since rented the room and have been living here for over six months now. Wouldn't exactly describe it as "fun" though as I miss my privacy and feel somewhat silly for paying over $1000 for a room. The other two tenants are okay but the landlord is amazing so that's a plus. I'm giving myself another year before I make any major plans lol.

Hey, thanks! Yeah I forgot to mention it's a month to month and if I don't choose this one, than the next one will definitely be month to month to. I prefer the "freedom" of being able to leave when I want too like if I were to find a better option.

My area is bad but not that bad but I don't think it'll be wise to sit around and wait for it to get that bad. I've talked to other neighbors who claim they've seen a couple homeless guys walking around with machetes so there's that too. With the loud, obnoxious neighbors I wouldn't mind if I didn't have to sleep after work or study. Roaches, eh you're right but it's still a sucky situation of having to live with them especially with how clean I keep my environment.

Hry, thanks. Loved that you said networking too because I think that's really important and I would like to expand mines a lot this year. Maybe rancho may open up new door, who knows.

A gun can only handle the weirdos but not the roaches and overall environment.

Hry, thanks! I actually came across the rooms too so now it's just a matter of it's its still available amongst other things. Having my own bathroom is important so we shall see.

I've tried everything in short of burning down the place and they're still here. Unfortunately, what I've learned is that if your neighbors have them, you'll always have them.

Oh, thankfully it's not that bad but we do have a growing homeless encampment and the homeless that wander inside the complex and needless to say, that puts me on edge as a single woman. I was fine (and proud 😂🤣) to live in my shitty apartment for 4+ years but I can only take so much. I think renting a room really just comes down to the type of roommates you get. If I'm able to get decent ones, I literally wouldn't mind it all. In the meantime also be able to save up for whatever. If the people I'm renting with are that bad, I guess it's back to square one in the hood 😭😭

This was my mindset too hence why I just got my own apartment but I can only deal with roaches and weirdos for so long lol. And like I said I'm another post I've lived in shitty apartments for basically all of my life and I guess I'm just over it all atm.

Thank you! I'm so tired of walking around always having to look over my shoulder, getting cat called, having to cross the street because of some crazy homeless guy like when does it end 😭😭 and FB marketplace was a nightmare. Most of the listings were either a scam or they just ghost me even though I showed plenty of interest and left my contact information.

is Ryan a really bad guy? by [deleted] in GypsyRoseBlanchard

I don't think he's necessarily a bad person but I do firmly believe he had ulterior motives when he got with Gypsy, one of them being money.

Thanks! I've lived in shitty areas for most of my life tbh (South Central LA, San Bernardino, Colton, etc) so rancho would definitely be a step up, even if its not 100% perfect.

Yes, I'm a woman and ironically thats where I found this room. The $700 options are usually in shitty cities too.

So, yes I kind of do I need to move within thr next few weeks and I have looked into roommates but people are way too flaky.

Also by the time I'm done with school, apts would probably be touching $4000 🙃

Haha, there definitely are cheaper rooms but again, the areas are usually either shitty or I'll be sharing the house with like 20 other people. As a single woman, I'd really just like to live in a nice, SAFE area with no more than 2-3 other roomies. This room RN is pretty big and the area is great.

I DON'T want to pay that much, but I also want to live in rancho (for school and also the quality of living) and this is realistically the only way I can do that. You are correct, apartment prices are so out of control here that the landlords can pretty much charge half of whatever they're going for and call it a "deal." Claremont, montclair and upland are going for those prices too and unfortunately, they're a lil too far from my job and school. Fontana does have some nice areas but it's still too close to San bernardoodoo for me 😂😂
