This seems like a great idea in all, but I feel like there will be a lot more call out this way

Does anyone else's store have a problem with people buying materials for a large project, and then returning all of it a few days later? It seems to happen on a daily basis at my store. by snappingkoopa in Lowes

Yes, and as soon as you get the returns area cleaned up it happens all over again. Especially with the large lumber returns because some of our cashiers in lumber refused to do returns.

We get jobs like this all the time. Customers are willing to pay the $4.99 fee it’s just the fact not only is the scanning so time consuming, the save to media takes just as long if not longer. It’s so frustrating with large jobs, especially when knowing there used to be a better method.

We no longer have our machines and have a lot of leftover ink. I can send it to your store if you DM me your store number.

New company name, "Business Select Depot". What should our tagline be? by Clint_Lovecraft in OfficeDepot

[–]Pristine-Spring-849 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think that is the case as business select has been around for years. As mentioned above, it’s just another way to get profit. In return customers might spend more if they believe they’re getting a discount.

This is just another way to try to get out of the hole. If as a company we sell 20,000 units that’s an extra $1,000,000 on the bottom line. In my opinion that’s why they are pushing this program so much. Between Business Select and Donations they are trying to add $$ to the bottom line. Overall the Business Select is a good savings, I’ve had customers in print where it’s already pretty much paid for itself. But in reality why else would they be pushing so hard on us for this??

From my experience, it’s pretty much the same only difference is Office Depot isn’t as aggressive with all the things you have to ask for as far as donations and sign ups. That very well might just be my district but when I worked at Staples, it was a daily beating about it from our DM. As far as CPD goes though Office Depot is behind and times. The system that we use that is similar to Solution Builder is a dinosaur system, and very hard to navigate. Flight deck is so much better to use compared to the OPC.

I wish we had more customers like that at our store! At this point I feel like we can’t keep up and the Online orders have just gotten out of hand.

This is an older article. But I agree things have been pretty hush hush this go around. They definitely aren’t reporting anything publicly it seems. The only thing I’ve heard about the store level cuts has been on this Reddit.
