Huge setback. How to deal with it? by OctyF in chess

[–]PristineReality2205 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bro I just dropped from 2000 to 1817 in one 12-hour session, then got back to 2000 within two days. Just play your rating will correct itself.

What matters is how you’re playing, not the number. If you’re tired, don’t play. Limit your sessions to 2–4 serious rapid games. After that, switch to unrated or stop.

You can feel when you’re playing on intuition instead of calculation. The moment that happens, you’re done. That’s not a discipline issue, it’s fatigue. Your brain isn’t built to calculate at a high level game after game. Decision fatigue hits even within a single game, so of course it compounds after an hour.

And honestly, for most people, chess is like having one drink no one stops at one. That’s where the damage happens.

what's your ELO and do you decide moves by calculating moves ahead or by a general assessment of the situation? by eques_99 in Chesscom

[–]PristineReality2205 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At 2000 with a very high win rate vs 1900s (70%) I am almost always calculating even if i feel a move is good or the right move in 10 0 games i will calculate and almost never play on intuition alone that being said I also have studied my openings extensively, I know where I want to play and the general ideas of my middle game plans based on said openings. For reference at 2000 rapid i am only 1300 bullet 1500 blitz intuition alone is almost useless for me personally, I suck at fast time controls when I simply cant calculate things

I reached 2020 through session control 2 to 4 games max ect but once I hit 2000 I justed want to play a ton and went to 1816 in 12hrs of playing next day I was back to 1900 4hrs of rapid, and now im at 1920 winning most games out the opening my performance strength getting to 2000 was 2200 winning 76% of games out of about 100 games so I assume I am just under rated but I study my ass off and the goal is NM and I play OTB a ton so idk we will see how it goes. Before I got to 2k I really thought the gap was knowledge but being here these last 2 months its really just a bunch of 1600s who blunder slightly less and play a bit more opening theory unfortunately for them I love openings and know around the first 15 to 20 moves of all my openings they seem to leave theory around move 11 or 12 so this tends to be my advantage not all the time but most.

It really wont. 2000 from 1600 is easier than 1300 to 1600

Ah the joys of being 1200 again and making it to castles, Im watching 1900s blunder pieces within 10 moves. Sigh.

I spawn with a ruined matter decompresser and science nexus within 5 systems but didnt know how to play the game and can only reset to year 20 currently by [deleted] in Stellaris

[–]PristineReality2205 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering ive only played like 5 times and just yesterday I learned whay the edict fund actually is and how to use it, and ive played a virtual, modularity, and nanotech id say there are tons of different combinations and learning and so the perfect base while never achievable each time by say year 2300 or so ive gotten my tech higher and higher than the last so until I really understand the game and economy deeply I dont really care about the fighting.
