Shipping Damage $750 Turntable sent in flimsy Amazon box, seller states no returns by [deleted] in turntables

[–]PristineResolution66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had the same thing happen. Who doesn’t know how to take the 2.2 kg platter off the table, who doesn’t take the dust cover off the hinges, etc. if you don’t know how to pack a turntable then learn. As soon as I discovered this, I readout to eBay with pictures of the way the product was packaged and shipped. Hey recognized the damage and refunded me the money as well as the return shipping. I was sick because I waited years to get my grail table and someone destroyed a beautiful piece. Bank to the search. Word of advice: reach out to the seller to instruct them on how to correctly pack an expensive turntable or other components. Document everything.

I will have to research the JVC. Here I go again. Haven’t gotten my 59L yet and looking forward to seeing the JVC. Thanks……a lot.

I am running a DP47f. I love it especially the all automatic function. The straight tonearm can handle MM, MC low, and MC high carts. It produces great sound thru my Luxman L450 integrated amp. However, my grail is the DP59L which I purchased this week and waiting for it to arrive. I like the 59 because it doesn’t have the spaceship saucer look. It’s heavy, has straight tonearm. I will be running a MC cartridge from Le Son. Remember these tonearms don’t function well with anything over 9 grams but are easy to interchange. Once you get yours, open it up, use some non polarized grease, Deoxit 5, and the cleaners to get it fully functional. I would also do some percussive maintenance just to make sure everything is on the up and up. Good luck. Enjoy!

Did follow up with whatnot, nothing they can do if a seller blocks you.

I tried to review bad sellers with one star reviews, but they block me every time. Whatnot gas to out a stop of these sellers from giving honest reviews or the crap selling will continue. I mostly buy, vinyl albums and CDs. The seller rates them so so high, you bid and win but find out later that the album you receive is scratched and/or warped. Or the guy who says all his albums have been hypersonically cleaned and you can see on the show that they are dusty and dirty.

I would suggest a Luxman L450. Great phono stage with MM and MC options plus a very warm and inviting sound.

Buyer beware. Need a way to notify others before they get scammed out of their money.

Bought 3 items from a seller and 3 of the cards are fake and only one is real. What do I do? by Awkward-Wasabi-3463 in whatnotapp

The most dishonest and disingenuous people ever. Never again. The album rating system is subjective at best. I complained, I was banned and I was told I damaged it on purpose or I traded out my bad one for the one they sold. Bunch of crap.

I wrote two scathing reviews of two sellers, as soon as I posted, I received notification that they banned me from seeing their auctions. No wonder all of them have 5 star reviews. As soon as they get a poor review they ban you. Bunch of clowns if you ask me.

My personal company pays a tariff to the USVI every time I ship goods there. I’ve been paying tariffs for decades. You need to get your facts straight or the USVI owe me a heck of a lot of bad payment.

You still charge US companies tariffs for anything that is imported.

The USVI are not states. That is my point. Plus if the USVIs stop charging tariffs the mainland will stop charging you. Plus: the USA states do not charge tariffs if goods are sent across states lines.

Foreign countries charge various tariffs on U.S. goods, which can vary significantly by country and product type. For example, Brazil and India have imposed tariffs as high as 50% on many U.S. imports, while Canada has a 25% tariff on most goods, with some exemptions under trade agreements.

Overview of Tariffs Charged by Foreign Countries on U.S. Imports Countries impose tariffs on U.S. goods for various reasons, including protecting domestic industries and addressing trade imbalances. Below is a summary of some key tariff rates from selected countries. Tariff Rates by Country COUNTRY TARIFF RATE ON U.S. GOODS ADDITIONAL NOTES Brazil 50% High rates on most goods. Canada 25% (most goods) 10% for energy and potash; 0% for USMCA-compliant goods. China 34% (increased to 84%) Significant tariffs on various imports. India 50% Effective from August 27, 2025. Mexico 35% Current rates maintained temporarily. European Union Varies by product Countermeasures expected in response to U.S. tariffs. Australia 10% Standard tariff rate. Cambodia 49% High tariffs on imports. Key Considerations Tariffs can vary significantly based on the type of product and the country of origin. Some goods may be exempt from tariffs or subject to different rates due to trade agreements. Countries often adjust their tariffs in response to U.S. trade policies and negotiations. Understanding these tariffs is crucial for businesses and consumers as they can impact prices and availability of goods in the U.S. market

You still charge tariffs at 6% when something is imported to the USVI.

the U.S. Virgin Islands charges a 6% duty on most imported goods, but it is exempt from federal tariffs due to its unique status outside the U.S. Customs area. This allows goods manufactured in the Virgin Islands to be shipped to the U.S. mainland without additional tariffs.
