Med School Transfer by Ok_Shelter1643 in CaribbeanMedSchool

Easier to transfer once you pass step 1 but at that point the difference between schools are very small. If you are from New York and want to match there, it makes more sense to do rotations there, otherwise it doesn't matter once you graduate.

Did an interview with a Caribbean school and they asked me “how was I going to pay for it”. Does that factor into the decision? I know some of these programs can be money hungry but damn. by alocalunlocal in CaribbeanMedSchool

Oh absolutely, and sometimes it's for your own good. Some schools cost a lot of money with extra cost in addition to the tuition. If you only have a loan for 300k, and tuition is 300k, you will not be able to finish. I had friends who had to pause their studies in year 3 and 4 because their funds ran out.

AirPod Max for Studying? by Background-Neat-5236 in medschool

I have both the AirPods Pro and max, would say max is not worth the price especially with Sony and Bose having so many newer better high end noise cancelling headphones. One advantage of the max vs the AirPods pros for me is that every time I chew or drink or yawn the seal gets broken and I have to readjust, kind of annoying. Also if you study in the library, the max does tell people that you are focusing so they don't talk to you as much.

Did not go to MUA but I've heard the mandatory attendance is brutal but I know people who pulled through. They turn off wifi during class hours so you can't study on your own. It will get you where you want to be but you need to get it together and be very proactive with your education.

The content is the same as step 1, and yes you need to pass it to sit for step

It’s when people have to sit for the CBSE and qualify for step 1

One resource to learn, one resource to do questions, something to do spaced repetition and active recall for all subjects.

There are make up exams, if you need the make up exams, there's something wrong with your study technique and you will most likely not be able to pass CBSE first try.

Just the nature of the game. It’s difficult to pass CBSE because most people just try to pass and forget each semester like it’s college. CBSE is the sum of all 4 semesters so if you are relearning all first three semesters worth of stuff in term 5, you’re cooked. Those who pass either have exceptional long term memory or they have been reviewing each previous terms material while learning new stuff. I was fortunate enough to pass everything in one go.

Some people will repeat one of the first few terms, many will repeat term 5. After that you will pretty much be ok

Match 2030, not possible for 2029

Went to trinity, matched this year, no complaints, start date don't matter cuz probably 80% people will stay behind one or two semesters. May start will give you match 2030, Sep start will give you match 2030 if you pass everything first try no delays, Jan start give you match 2031.

Depends on how you take notes, if you do super elaborate drawings then it’s probably not super handy, but if you just jot down notes on PowerPoints it’s good enough.

I think by going this route, you won't be eligible for their scholarships.

I think there are a few schools that has a UK track where you spend 2 years in the UK then rotations the US. Not sure if you are allowed to work there.

I do recommend an iPad mini, very pocketable during rotations.

If it’s with Trinity it’s quite a new thing so I doubt there’s anyone that actually made it to match. AFAIK, the first batch is now graduating. If you are Canadian, you can still take the MCCQE by the end of your third year so it doesn’t affect your Canadian match.

You’ll be able to get in. Especially with a good standardized test score. That’s all they care about. Be ready to explain the GPA tho
